Panelists and audience at a Pinellas Technical Network event

One of the other panelists sharing an answer
Absolutely great time last week at the Pinellas Tech Network & Tampa Devs event. We covered architecture, performance, product, accessibility, AI, and how to stay ahead in our very quickly evolving industry. Trying to get to more grassroots events in 2026 and see actual humans.

Very much checking every month on my preorder!
Woah donβt be hasty!
Jack Dorsey tweeting the reasons for laying off a tremendous percentage of his staff, justifying it with covid hiring. Full post: "yes we over-hired during covid because i incorrectly built 2 separate company structures (square & cash app) rather than 1, which we corrected mid 2024. but this misses all the complexity we took on through lending, banking, and BNPL. and that we're now targeting $2M+ gross profit per person, 4x our pre-covid efficiency, which stayed flat at ~$500k from 2019 until 2024. we have and do run an efficient company... better than most."
Seeing some buzz around the Block layoffs.
Executives may perceive layoffs as the result of βAI increasing productivityβ or βdoing more with less". AI wasn't the reason, bad company practices were. This AI demonization is an easy scapegoat but shouldn't cover the real issue of mismanagement.
Jeremy explaining why enterprise accessibility is hard, and what we can do about it.
"Common accessibility failures are entirely predictable. That is a good thing. This is good news for us because predictable problems can be prevented." - @webwhey.bsky.social www.deque.com/axe-con/sess... #axecon

Accessibility shouldnβt be the thing that derails your sprint.
If it is, your process is the problem, not you.
I wrote about the power that we have as developers to influence and be the change to those processes.

Played around with Cursor yesterday and finally wrapped up a personal site to showcase some of my work + experiences. Iβm pulling in my Medium RSS feed and even set up an open-source SMTP for the contact form.

Jeremy, speaking on some AI frustrations developers reported having during a recent StackOverflow survey
Super happy to have been invited to speak π£οΈ at A11ySD about AI and Accessibility. We have a long way to go before the code LLMs are generating is truly accessible so we have to do our best to validate and check any code weβre pushing to PROD.

I do wonder how this market will continue to expand and if there will be adjacent markets that pop up for customizations, accessories, and software.
What a time to be alive.
