I do love Play and OK Computer. I was surprised to see 30STM in there.

Post-grunge. Lots of grunge acts were critically acclaimed (Nirvana, Pearl Jam, etc.) + seen as "authentic" whereas post-grunge (esp. second wave, which includes acts like Nickelback and Creed) were seen as "inauthentic" with a radio friendly/produced style. Gets a lot of hate, even decades later.

I don't find them attractive either but I'm just not particularly into fictional humans. They're all very well written of course, though. If I had to pick one as someone I'd find attractive I'd pick Halsin. He's calm, manly, kind, and self-indulgent, and I find that to be an attractive combo.

Light is a monster (under the effects of the death note). I don't recall a single incident of him expressing genuine care for someone while under its influence. Light being a monster is because of the Death Note. This is proven at one point in the show, but I cannot explain this without spoilers.
