I don't know much about the modern greens except that the leader believes/d in psychic breast enhancement or something insane like that lol
Like I find Jessie Buckley's cat rehoming thing really unlikable and made me go off her a bit as a person, but she's a fantastic actress. When I watch her in things I won't be thinking about cats lol
That's crazy because you can hugely dislike Trump and also hugely dislike the Iranian Regime - it's easy to do!
Like, Chalamet made Call Me By Your Name. When he's given a good role and directed well he can be fantastic. (And for the record I found him bland as hell in Dune)
Exactly!! I mean I'd prefer if people were decent human beings but sometimes people who make great things suck (not saying that's true of Chalamet or whatever- I actually don't really care if he was rude about ballet lol)
I don't know who he is, but I'm not surprised when people (obviously not all men) profess to be left wing and then just completely minimise misogyny
I refuse to accept that Valentine Starbuck is a real name that a real human being was called and not an Oda Eiichiro character
Lol of course it's a lot of left-wing men (not only them but a lot) having a go at her. Of course.
Are people really trying to cancel Marjane Satrapi? Really?????????
I think I must have re-read Persepolis approximately five billion times as a teenager. She's amazing.
Nathan and I still quote this to each other regularly all these years later:

I tried desperately to find a "It's ballet! BALLET. I'M GAY AND I DON'T EVEN CARE" Sassy Gay Friend Black Swan gif but unfortunately I failed.
Timothee Chalamet could very well be a very annoying person in real life, whichever Safdie brother directed the film could very well be terrible, and people could genuinely be very hurt~ on behalf of ballet (why though lol), but Marty Supreme is a great film, come on now.
It's a strong year (a couple of duds + many glaring omissions, but aside from that I think it's mental that anyone thinks it's a "weak year" for the awards season) but even then The Secret Agent and Sentimental Value are head and shoulders above most of the competition (for me).
Rewatched Sentimental Value, this time with my dad (he cried), and it makes me sad that this film most likely won't be sweeping the acting categories at the Oscars, when it very much should be (with Wagner Moura getting Best Actor for The Secret Agent). Just impossibly wonderful.
Thank you so much for this joyful addiction! Really needed it atm to escape from some IRL stuff.
Lemme know if it's any good!
Idt the books are out in english yet but there's an anime that covers the first three that is apparently pretty good
a bit suspicious that lila saw punch the monkey and is trying to go viral
for*
I blame @brainvsbook.bsky.social and her blog fot this new addiction
Counting down to seeing a "cats are spiritually Zionist" post in 3, 2, 1...
I let the Jessie Buckley Hates Cats discourse marinate for a couple of days and already the discourse has evolved into "hating Jessie Buckley and not Paul Mescal sexist" and "BUT WHAT ABOUT ROMAN POLANSKI".
Beautiful. No notes.
Heian-era inspired Japanese epic fantasy about bird-people ๐ฅน
The Yatagarasu novels by Chisato Abe are SO good, bloody hell.
It took over a decade but I finally found a fantasy novel series that scratches that Robin Hobb Farseer/Liveship addictive fantasy series itch.
(She didn't even give the best portrayal of a grieving mother this/last year!)
(This is your periodic reminder from me that Bring Her Back was the best horror film of 2025 and in a just world Sally Hawkins would be getting showered with awards)
(Plus maybe she likes cats idk)
The lady was nice and gently guilt tripped me into buying the whole set, so.
Have gone right off Jessie Buckley after that interview, if it's true she made her partner give up his pets. I don't give a crap if people don't like cats or dogs but making someone give up an animal they made a commitment to is shit unless there's a very good reason.
(I like Sinners a lot but I rate The Secret Agent, Sentimental Value, OBAA and Marty Supreme higher).
(Wish Renate Reinsve could scoop the Best Actress win instead of Jessie Buckley but there's a snowball's chance in hell)
(Wish Wagner Moura and Stellan Skarsgรฅrd would win too)
Peter Bradshaw is right and The Secret Agent absolutely should win Best Picture, but it won't.
Also I feel like the discourse on the internet will be unbearable if Sinners doesn't win so maybe it should just win it so we can all have a peaceful life.
