Unbelievable. This would be a terrible blow to American science, writ large. It would decimate not only climate research, but also the kind of weather, wildfire, and disaster research that has underpinned half a century of progress in prediction, early warning, and increased resilience.
You are, right now, paying Big Oil's $900 annual pollution tax, in the form of higher home insurance, higher health insurance, and higher electric bills for more air conditioning. These costs disproportionately burden the poor and will keep rising as long as the fossil fuel industry exists.
In addition, there's always the real risk of carbon monoxide poisoning when combustion is not complete due to poor installation & ventilation. My experiences from a very slow leak over a month: headaches, low energy, and grogginess that cleared up once we got outside. #naturalgas
