Always a treat to see a Kingfisher. This one at East Cottingwith seeking breakfast in the Pocklington Canal. @ldvnnr.bsky.social @yorkbirding.bsky.social

A thin tree branch hangs down from the top of the frame and forks throughout the frame against a distant background of snow and bare dark trees. Seven bright red birds, one near the center with his back to the camera and his wings spread wide, fill a vertical column among the branches while three creamy brown birds with pale red highlights form a triangle to each side and below the males. Heavy snow falls across the entire scene.

Nothing draws visitors like an easy meal during adverse conditions. 😄 Here's a small sampling during a recent snow.
