The Untold Story of the Birth of the iPhone Apple turns 50 on April 1. In his new book, β€œApple: The First 50 Years,” David Pogue chronicles the secrecy-laden environment in which Steve Jobs willed the first iPhone into existence.

It amazes me that we're approaching the 20th anniversary of the birth of smartphone. This extract from David Pogue’s book β€˜Apple: The First 50 Years’ sets out the developments and ideas that had to align for the iPhone to come into being. (Outside paywall, I think.)

OK, I have a US jacket design now. I think it looks rather handsome.
The book is published in the autumn, in both the UK (Little Brown) and US (University of Chicago Press).

If you want to know how the British print news industry ends (which is, de facto, amazingly still what supports most newspaper websites) it's the distribution channels getting banjaxed. When you lose "TG Jones" etc even people who want a paper can't get one. That'll be the real start of the ending.
