I'm pretty sure the next generation of consoles is going to be 100% download only. But PC games have been there for around a decade at this point. So it's actually surprising consoles still have any physical media at all.

Yeah, Winter Rabbit down at the bottom there is from my friend Will Thompson, and I did some development work on it. Amazing to see it nominated, but thats some stiff competition to be going up against.

Yeah, they really should mention the designers, just like I feel all games should have the designer and lead artist listed on the cover as well. Lets give credit where its due.

Super exciting to hear Winter Rabbit is up for an Origins Award. I helped develop it, but at its core it was a passion project for @willmthompson.bsky.social. Digging into his culture and trying to design a boardgame that portrayed it authentically.

I love seeing prototypes like this. Curious how the game plays. I assume collecting resources (tokens for the animals and colored cubes for the Adult/child) unlock additional actions or stronger actions? Whats the victory condition?

Any plans to revisit the world of Starter Villian. The book wraps up nicely, and I don't think I'd want to see Charlie back in the villainous world, but I feel like some more fun could be had in that world.

Just introduced my Stepson to Symphony of the Night. He'd heard of it, but never played it. I let him get lulled in by the ease of the opening section, and then watched his struggle once Death showed up to steal his weapons and really start the game.

You use the effect your opponent’s Assets have on the main board as a means of tracking their movements and guessing their plans. While also trying to use your Assets to bluff them while you complete your missions, and ultimately be the first to accomplish your Secret Objective.

The Collector, for instance, gives away your exact location, while something like The Cleaner only narrows down your location to one of four locations on the board. But the collector will net you up to five Intels, while the Cleaner will only get you one.

Some, like the Decoy and Handler, only work in specific circumstances. So, really, you only have five or six choices on an average turn. And each choice is as much about how it moves your goal forward as it is about controlling what information you give your opponent.

The actual turn-to-turn gameplay is pretty simple. Each turn, you choose two of your 8 Asset cards to play and then resolve their actions. These cards are how you move your Agent, manipulate and generate Intel, and complete missions and your Secret Objective.

Yes, the elevator pitch. Can you explain your game in a way that makes people excited and want to buy it in just a few quick sentences?

26.02.2026 15:28 πŸ‘ 3 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

Cricut is what we use. The upfront cost and learning curve bother some people, but it pays for itself after just a few prototypes. So much quicker and less likely to cause carple tunnel from cutting tons of tokens and whatnot.

I almost never sell games I want to get rid of. Usually, I donate or swap for other games at local events. I don't necessarily have an issue with reviewers selling games they've reviewed, but it can create a perceived bias if they give high marks to games and then try to sell them.

Woot, love to see this one already doing so well.

These should have been the full art lands in Duskmourn. What we got were cool, but these would have perfectly fit that 1980s vibe they were going with.

So each turn is a game of cat and mouse. You have to think about the best actions to move closer to your secret objective while avoiding your opponent’s guard. And think about where you think your opponent is and what their plan is, so you can catch them, or at least slow them down.

But you are moving around the board secretly behind a screen while your opponent is opening hunting you on the board with a Guard. You also have a guard and you are also hunting them.

A render of the game Mirror Agents setup for play. Displaying a main board with various colored locations populated with Intel cubes. Two guard Meeples are on the board and three decks of Mission cards are in the center. Two player screens can been seen on either side of the main board, and one player board can be seen behind a screen, showing the hidden location of that players Agent.

Let's talk about the mechanics for my upcoming game, Mirror Agents. At its core, Mirror Agents is a combination of Hidden Movement and Pick-up and Deliver. Each turn, you are moving around the board trying to collect Intel so you can then deliver it to locations to complete missions.

I have no idea what sparked this trend of the #antiquesroadshow hashtag, but it's hilarious to watch how it's being used. This is the peak use of social media, to create shared memes.

I need to not post from my phone, I butchered some spelling in there.

Much like the movie, it was extremely underated sort of got ignored at release. The movie didn't flop, but it wasn't the box office success people expected of a Georfe Lucas/Ron Howard film at the time. Which in turn means the game didn't get much of a push.

Had to do some cleaning, Chaka Khan has claimed this as her new throne from which to watch her servants clean her kingdom.

That's the type of person who just doesn't want anything out there on shelves that might cause cognitive dissonance, making people think outside their bubble. Because that leads to scary ideas like treating all people fairly, or maybe large corporations shouldn't be able to pay politicians.

All scotches are whiskey, not all whiskeys are scotch. I'm personally a fan of Lagavulin. I have a nice bottle of 16-yearon the shelf that I've been slowly sipping through. Love how smokey it is.

I vaguely remember playing games on a Commodore 64 and the Spectrum using cassette tapes. The ones for the Commodore looked like normal tapes. I want to say the Spectrum used what looked like tiny 8-track tapes.

Coming soon: Mirror Agents A Hidden Movement Game of Espionage

Super excited that the "Notify for Launch" page for my game, Mirror Agents, has hit 400! We will be launching in early April, and I can't wait for the campaign to get started.

The first four Quest for Glory games are all amazing. The fifth one is okay, but it lost some of the magic in the switch to 3D.

Love seeing how prototypes evolve into finished games. And even seeing how prototypes evolve over time. Seeing which elements make it from initial concept to the on the shelf version of the game.
