There is a stark difference in the discourse after the election. Progressives generally, regardless of party allegiance, want Labour to see it and hope they move back towards their traditional roots. Whereas those on the right who voted against the Conservatives just really hated them.
One more positive about the vote, and they should serve as a canary down the coalmine for Labour, the Conservative and Unionist Party is a spent force in the UK and we should celebrate their demise. 1.9% share of the vote.
Sadly, despite McSweeney's departure, I think the current Labour leadership are surrounded by too many people who have never stepped outside, career-wise, of policy advisor organisations and electoral campaign teams.
Not enough people are prepared to swallow the bullshit Reform are coming out with. Does it make me naïve that I think the best way to combat Reform when you have a massive majority, is to use it to bring in transformative policy improving life for people rather than trying to out-racist them?
