FINAL: Spurs 114, Pistons 103
Spurs are a defensive dynamo, as are Pistons. The 3-point disparity - 18 of 40; 7 of 36 - wasn't the only story. But the margin for error is thin when you get outscored by 33 from 3. They meet again next week.
Pistons finally get a 3 to fall. Caris LeVert cuts it to 94-85 with 7:42 to go. Pistons had been 1 of 12 in second half until that one.
END 3Q: Spurs 83, Pistons 75
The 3-point disparity is the biggest factor with Spurs 14 of 32 and Pistons 6 of 25. Pistons have done a terrific job neutralizing Wembanyama, but Spurs have done just as well neutralizing Cade Cunningham.
Spurs up 81-72 at 2:59 3Q as they are doing a terrific job of staying patient and finding 3-point shooters, who are 14 of 31. Kind of crazy that in a game as physical as this, we've had a total of 20 free throws shot.
HALF: Spurs 57, Pistons 55
Spurs 11 of 22 from 3 with Vassell (5 of 7) and Champagnie (4 of 5) combining for 30 points. Pistons a 34-20 points in the paint edge and a 29-22 rebound edge.
END 1Q: Pistons 27, Spurs 24
Pistons trailed 14-2 after 3 minutes. Cunningham, Duren 2 fouls apiece. Ron Holland helped turn the game with 9 points in 2 minutes, the first 6 on forceful takes that resulted in and-ones.
Grant Hill was the last Pistons player to be named first team All-NBA. Cade Cunningham is poised to end that dry spell. They might also have another link coming.

FINAL: Pistons 126, Bulls 110
Pistons win 5th straight. Dominant 2nd half after leading by 3 at halftime. Cade Cunningham 18/9/13 in 30 minutes. Jalen Duren 26 and 13 in his return.
The gauntlet next week: Spurs, Thunder, Cavs

Monday-Wednesday-Friday
END 3Q: Pistons 97, Bulls 76
Pistons end quarter outscoring Bulls 27-12 over last 7:26. Cade Cunningham 17/9/11; Jalen Duren 23 and 10.
Pistons open lead to 15 midway through 3Q. Cade Cunningham on the verge of a triple-double with 17/9/9. Jalen Duren 17 points, 9 boards in return from 2-game suspension.
HALF: Pistons 53, Bulls 50
Pistons between games with the Knicks and starting Monday with San Antonio, OKC and Cleveland, so a trap game if ever there was one. Bulls 9 of 17 from 3 but 14 turnovers. Cade Cunningham 15/6/4/2/2
END 1Q: Bulls 30, Pistons 28
An 8-0 Bulls run to end the quarter. If you're Chicago, you'd probably want to be up more than 2 points if you made 8 of 9 triples.
Ausar Thompson checks out with 3 minutes left in the first quarter with this stat line: 2 points (1 of 5) but 3 boards, 5 assists, a steal and a block. Pistons up 28-22 after Bulls started 6 of 7 from 3
The blowouts in Detroit might have stung the Knicks a bit, but the domination at home bruised them.
On a big night on basketball's biggest stage and Cade Cunningham's transcendent mastery of the Knicks:

FINAL: Pistons 126, Knicks 111
Cade Cunningham 42/8/13 and a major foot forward in the MVP race.
Amazing win without Jalen Duren and Isaiah Stewart. Pistons sweep season series with the Knicks 3-0.
Mark that stretch down. Cade Cunningham sitting for first 2:29 of fourth quarter and they've expanded the lead from 11 to 16. Knicks timeout. Paul Reed a big block on one end, a big offensive rebound and kickout for a LeVert 3 at the other.
END 3Q: Pistons 90, Knicks 79
Cade Cunningham 35/6/9. He's played 31 minutes and all of the third quarter. Tolu Smith 5 fouls, Paul Reed 4. A battle of attrition for the Pistons at this point.
HALF: Pistons 58, Knicks 48
7-0 run to end half and take game's first double-digits lead. Cade Cunningham 24/3/4.
Knicks hit their first 3 and are 0 of 15 since.
END 1Q: Pistons 28, Knicks 26
Pistons opened 1 of 10, finished 10 of 23. Cade Cunningham 14 points, 3 of 5 from 3.
