This thread is not about whether Platner is a Nazi. It’s about how he lies like a toddler when he’s cornered. And that’s enough. He’s not electable, and Susan Collins knows it. You can too, if you can read this thread, or this 18-page document. 2/

The reason you so many of the most annoying Twitter Politics guys are sticking by Platner has nothing to do with the candidate or policy and more to do with the fact that they can never have been wrong. I was excited about him for a bit and now I am not. Very easy thing to say if you are normal.
#skystorians, I am looking for information on the nature of American Revolutionary historiography around the time of the bicentennial - does anyone know a good source, or might themselves be a good source?
Why tenured academics and administrators insist that using this technology is unproblematic and just how the future should work with none of our input is baffling to me. Feels like a modern cargo cult.
The agreement would let the data center pull between 2-8 million gallons per day from the area’s primary source for drinking water. And if usage goes over estimates, it would accelerate the need for a new drinking source by decades.

Fancy, block chain gifs for suckers.
It was all so new and fun at the time, but the learning curve was something else.
Lots of new tech I hate the past few years, which feels really weird. GenAI is the absolute worst, but crypto, NFTs, and smart glasses are right up there with it.
I remember them having FidoNET but I’m not sure I really figured out how to send messages outside the local system.
Other than BBSes, my first online service was QuantumLink. The first month was free when I upgraded to a 1200 baud modem.
My first modem was a manual dial, manual answer 300 baud VicModem.
Last week, Denver’s mayor announced a new executive order that bans ICE agents from city property, citing the killing of protesters by federal agents in Minneapolis this year as motivation for the measure.
Really good read on digital preservation, archives, culture, race, and music. 📚📜
They’d pay 20x the going rate for trucks that won’t move.
CIWS mounted on a truck would do it. Everyone wants to take a lethal R2D2 with them everywhere they go.
Unfortunately, I ended up with single-breasted at the time, but the effect was still nice.
We need hundreds of units of platforms like the M48 Chaparral and the M247 Sergeant York to provide anti-drone protection. How many would it take to defend against a 750-drone air raid?
It’s my favorite movie. My wife and I had a 1940s-themed wedding because of Casablanca.
A grim thread. I have reverted to mostly in-class assignments. The era of undergrads writing essays unsupervised on their own time is rapidly coming to a close.
People, Wired, Teen Vogue have consistently met the moment better than most legacy media- and considering the high quality reporting their reporters are still doing, this is all the fault of those in the C suite.
I can read some French and Spanish, but speaking them is something else.
That sounds like my winter break. I hope his next vacation goes better.
I think if we make it into the future, historians will wonder how we made it so long before The Great Collapse happened while letting corporations decide how society should be organized
That chef may need a vacation.
The best tamales I’ve ever had were sold out of the back of a van on the side of a road.
That’s what we tell people visiting other counties, too.
