I just want a place I can buy components in person again. Electrical components. I need wire and solder and I need capacitors, transistors, and resistors

Yeah! I can't make any guarantees, I just like fixing things and kinda only had them as a kid 'cause I learned how! Like I said, a lot of this older stuff is real rough to try to fix. Lots of hacky work and impossible to find components, but I can do my best :D
I know there's projects that are releasing players *to this day* but I think they're not cheap, and they're also not as small as they used to be for 'holdable.'
If you find some more used ones I might be able to try to fix them? a lot of the time it'll be more 'dirty heads' and corrosion, likely
Truthfully cassette players are basically LosTech at this point. The design capacity to miniaturize their components has had to be like, retread and rediscovered, so even broken ones are gonna be tough to fix without at least replacement parts (salvaged from other broken ones).
It might be tough.
Cassette players are old enough at this stage that you might have to figure out a repair on a broken one. Those broken ones, do you happen to know what's wrong with them?
hell yeag
That friction IS game feel.
There is not a single time in our lives when we do not experience friction of some kind. Games shouldn't be like that either I don't think.
In the time since, they explored adding MORE friction, and less friction, dialing it a little at a time in enough ways that it significantly change how the game feels.
And everything else in the developed industry has just gotten 'smoother.'
When you look at I die games you see all the friction.
I maintain that the dark souls series is not better than most of From Software's earlier work, but it hits so good because it has friction in a way that games at the time were obsessed with removing.
Smoother controls, more precision, prettier graphics, easy to understand systems, all exposition
$289 / $500 - thank you to everyone who has helped so far. I cannot tell you how much it means to me.
(Also - keep your fingers crossed for me - theyβre supposed to be calling references either today or Monday for the job i interviewed for, so hereβs hoping mine are on that list!)
ko-fi.com/vyriadurav/g... Hey folks I'm at 30% on my extra surgery fundraising goal, surgery is in early April and I could use just a bit more to handle the recovery lodging and prelim testing and such. If you're able to toss even a couple bucks my way, it helps a ton!
yeah, I think there's gotta be a helluva lot of racism in there too for the othering; in the same way that people had "allergies to MSG," for instance. All of this is also before "we have laws because it's unsanitary" because the same people will complain about lemonade stands getting shut down
meanwhile the literal number one thing I want to do if ever I can actually travel outside of the country is try their food. Their worst food, their best food, everything in the middle. I feel like it's one of the best things about societies and the people in them!
They are afraid of leaving their comfort zone, but there's also some kind of cultural component here. It's too white so the food caters that way
People look at me like I'm disgusting when I talk about how we communally cooked food down there, or how you get the best fruit of your life from Francisco hawking mangos when they're in season on the side of the road, like they're dangerous or something. They talk like fairs are dregs of society
like, I moved up to Portland and there's some classist shit up here. Like nobody here ever went from dive bar to the worst chicken wings imaginable in a single night before. Like nobody here has scrambled for cheap but tasty and filling.
it's definitely some kind of snobbery or racism or something? The US south has street food all around, fairs and farmers markets, real low grade restaurants, cookouts, filthy barbecue places, but the bougie places like the food trucks a bit more I think.
I hope you're able to get some help with that Vee. Wish I could help you but trying to coordinate internationally is real tough :x
Even for people without ADHD, if you work 40 hours a week but you don't have someone handling the rest of what you need to do, if you work during the day and can't make calls you need to because you're working, if you just fell behind? This is just what life is now!
I think it's a scalable idea tbh
Like, there's a LOT of room for this, and it's not strictly limited to people with ADHD, either. There are plenty of men who will never be able to stick women with the demand of "work 40 hours and t hen come home and be my mommy, cook/clean/etc" that like
they are useless! But they got $$$
Because realistically, calling never does take that much time for most things. If you want to schedule a cleaning service because your ADHD has made it impossible to cook often enough and now you have lots of take out trash that you can't remember to bring to the trash can or can to curb...
The reason it works is because on our own we'll almost never remember to do it, we NEED to have someone ask us, and then it's FINE.
And we don't get paralyzed by the sheer depth of the tasks, because it's not call this and this and this and this, it's WE CALL YOU.
I have considered building a local service for people with ADHD or AuDHD that does JUST THIS. Call you once every two weeks like "Do you need anything today, help scheduling or planning?"
Doctor's visits, cleaning services, just one level of abstraction to combat the "step chaining" problem
that's the worst! That's why it always behooves princess dragons to have a grand vizier making these decisions, even if her laugh is like a power-crazed cackle sometimes
does it make someone a bad person to fantasize about carving transphobes into graven markers and impaling them on spikes as testament
asking for a friend
so insulated from the effect that they do not fear the cause
I want the profane feminine to corrupt the divine feminine in a way I can feel equally parts seen and scared
This thread is now dedicated to organizing aid for trans refugees
