I'm happy to be quoted in this piece about talking dogs www.thefarmersdog.com/digest/heres...
Earlier this month, Utah lost its first known wolf pack in over a century after 3 wolves were killed in the stateβs unprotected zone. These losses are a reminder that without strong protections, wolves will continue to be killed for crossing invisible political boundaries.

Some rare good news for animal rights. Thanks to @kennytorrella.bsky.social for reminding us that there is still reason to hope that we could one day live differently on our planet, relating to our fellow creatures with compassion, rather than violent domination.

People with dogs who are sound sensitive or sound phobic, please take it seriously. Such fear only gets worse (often very quickly) if we don't help them. There is still time to take some action before New Year's Eve. Here are some tips.

Sadly, even in his cute winter coat, Freddy missed out on a home this Christmas. After being returned through no fault of his own, this was his first holiday alone. If you can give him a chance, there's still time to give him a happy new year! Freddy is 3-years-old, 80lbs, and in Monroe, WA.
A medium sized tan dog stands on a snowy path wearing a green knit winter sweater with a decorative pattern. The dog is attached to a black leash and looks back toward the camera. Snow covers the ground and a tree trunk is visible in the background.
Winter walks can be risky for dogs in cold weather. Shorten walks near 20 degrees Fahrenheit, use sweaters for vulnerable dogs, wipe paws after walks, and watch for signs of discomfort. Indoor enrichment helps on very cold days.

The text at the top reads Canine nose work: Why you and your dog will love it with Bonnie Hartney CTC. There's a screenshot of Zazie Todd, Bonnie Hartney, and Kristi Benson chatting on Zoom. Kristi's dog Archer is lounging on a sofa behind her. Below is an orange stripe with the words The Pawsitive Post in Conversation, and the Companion Animal Psychology logo which shows a cat and dog greeting each other.
New episode! We chatted to Bonnie Hartney of Ocean Park Dog Training about nose work, why it's so good for dogs, and if @kristibenson.bsky.social 's dog Archer would be good at it. Listen wherever you get your podcasts or watch on Youtube. www.companionanimalpsychology.com/2025/11/cani...

The book Deadly Trade, an FBI K9 novel, displayed on a blue velvet cushion. The book shows a black Labrador following his nose and running along a path with Hawaiian nature and a volcano behind and a pink sky.
Congratulations to @jenjdanna.com whose book, Deadly Trade, is published today. I could not put this one down! If you like a tense read and to see working dogs in action, this is for you. @kristibenson.bsky.social and I had the pleasure of chatting to Jen/Sara about the book--details to follow :)
Mostly black and white graphic from Animal Justice featuring Laika, the first dog in space, with text detailing her journey and advocating for freedom from animal suffering. Background includes an image of Laika with a museum credit to the National Air & Space Museum.
68 years ago today, #Laika was sent into space on an involuntary suicide mission. She became the first animal to orbit Earth, but died in agony just hours after launch as her capsule reached fatal temperatures.
Today we remember Laika & all victims of animal testing β€οΈβπ©ΉπΆ

Eulogies for veganism tend to downplay this critical point: taking on the meat industry β a monster machine with unparalleled lobbying and marketing resources β was never a fair fight.

For decades, wildlife policy has defined recovery as survival, keeping species alive, but not truly allowing them to live.
From wolves to grizzlies to bison, weβve settled for the bare minimum. What if conservation meant more than avoiding extinction?

Mexican gray wolves are running out of time. Weβre calling on agencies to stop reckless removals and start releasing wolf families to restore desperately needed genetic diversity. Without action, lobos risk extinction once again.

New Yorkβs updated wildlife plan leaves wolves out, despite evidence theyβre here. In 2021, a wolf was killed near Cooperstown, yet NY refuses to collect DNA or include wolves in its plan. Wolves deserve protection, not denial.
