Like I've been callin' at least one person five days a week and blastin' out emails daily since this whole Collective Shout censorship shit kicked off, and I DESPISE DOING BOTH. If I can commit to this, so can y'all.

Hey, alongside contacting your representatives, this seems like another thing worth putting a bit of your time into and sharing around. If we could get "reputational risk" taken off the table, even in this current climate, that could create a chilling effect on these kinds of policies

You need to call your reps and demand that they OPPOSE:

-the KIDS Act
-KOSA
-the Screen Act
-Sammy's Law
-the App Store Accountability Act

And additionally, oppose:

-reforming/sunsetting Section 230
-online age verification/ID laws

Mind you their offices get calls about all kinds of things from immigration policy to potholes.

Just because Bluesky keeps screaming about it on your feed doesn't mean they know about it. Everyone has to pitch in for it to actually make a blip on the radar!

I like to ask them if they're aware of the laws in question to see if it's on their radar.

There's been times where the office rep HAS heard of laws like KOSA, but sometimes they respond as though it's the first time they heard about in. Which is where YOU come in.

I know calling reps is very nerve racking. You're not sure what's the right thing to say, and tbh having a script thrown at me makes things just as nerve racking.

What bothers me the most though is how this will once again divide up people and information just like Twitter did

Sane people don't want to be on platforms that embrace exploitative features, so we split and split until communication becomes ineffective. And, that pattern is deeply concerning

This isn't a surprise, btw. I was hesitant to setup here in the first place specifically because the founders were in this sphere, but so it goes that creators need a place to settle, we bring traffic to these platforms, and we end up being exploited all over again anyway

USA folk, you need to annoy these assholes as much as you can. this bill is not to protect children. they want to erase transgender people from public life and classify them as degenerate content in the internet. we will not be seen or heard. they want our *existence* to be a sex offense.

It needs to go through Rules and Committees before the House which will be around the end of the year.

It means there's the Rules and Committees offices that will question the bill creators and what their reasoning is to put the bill forward to the House.

And AOC has sounded the alarm, that way most voters are going to oppose it.
