Today's agreement on EPBC reforms is a huge leap forward for forest protection— though more needs to be done to halt the impacts of climate on nature.

With Telstra’s backing, the Business Council of Australia (BCA) has doubled-down on its support for new polluting gas projects and influenced the government to set a dangerously weak climate target.
But Australia still hasn’t ratified. If Australia acts now, we could propose one of the first high seas sanctuaries in the Tasman Sea. If we delay, we risk being left behind.
This only happened because millions of people around the world stood up for the ocean. Together, we showed that when people unite, governments act. For over 20 years, Greenpeace offices around the world have campaigned tirelessly for stronger ocean protection.
A huge win for people power: 60 countries have now ratified the Global Ocean Treaty, bringing this landmark agreement to life. This will pave the way for high seas marine sanctuaries, giving life the chance to recover and thrive.

Following disturbing allegations multinational oil and gas corporation ConocoPhillips covered up a methane leak at an export hub in Darwin, the fossil fuel giant, which is currently test drilling for gas in the Otway Basin, can’t be trusted to operate in Victoria.
Documents seen by the ABC suggest the scale of leaking pollutants from Darwin’s first liquefied natural gas plant could be equivalent to 8,300 new cars on the road every year it is in use. ⚠️🌏
