Just shows how much contempt Reform has for their own supporters. This is a policy that helps the kids of the wealthy educated liberal elites they claim to despise. And would harm the types of constituency they do well in.

Important to seek clarity today on whether Home Office and No 10 will try to defend - or will now withdraw - a false+misleading claim applying settlement reforms to 2022-24 cohort saves Β£10bn

Not just overspinning lifetime saving in 30 years time
Gvt policy doesn't save maybe Β£8-10 billion of it!

Sovereignty for sale Tech monopolies and the future of the nation state

New post just out:

"Sovereignty for sale"

The UK is uniquely exposed to the power of US tech monopolies - from Palantir to AI and cloud services.

Why is it so dangerous? What are other countries doing? And what should we do?

Analysis Suggests School Was Hit Amid U.S. Strikes on Iranian Naval Base

U.S. forces likely bombed an Iranian elementary school on Feb. 28 during an operation targeting a nearby military base, a New York Times analysis suggests. It is the deadliest known episode of civilian casualties since the U.S. and Israel attacked Iran β€” and no side has yet taken responsibility.

On the one hand, a clearly deranged lunatic in the White House starting a dangerous illegal war on Iran with already-serious repercussions for the region and world...

Or having a pop at Keir Starmer.

You just knew which side the Right would come down on.

The one I am waiting for is the inevitable sob story that will some point appear, one assumes in the Telegraph, of someone who has been clobbered by a UK income tax bill because their flights to Dubai were cancelled and they spent one day too much in the UK.

What does this imply for those of us who are not Christian, and who labor under the assumption that we're protected by the First Amendment?

I remember when β€˜Brexit Means Brexit’ became a way for silly people to insist that they supported something they could neither justify nor explain. Obviously the context is very different, but something similar is already happening with the β€˜war’ in Iran. And it’s mostly the same people doing it.

Nigel Farage has positioned himself as the person who would lick Donald Trump's butthole the most.

Donald Trump is the most hated foreign politician in the UK (except for Netanyahu).

Do you really want to be the USA's slave?

If not DONT VOTE REFORM.

Dear Shabana,
I notice today that you referred to me in your speech on immigration at the IPPR think tank.
You said: β€œA party leader should not be on the beaches of France encouraging people to
make a perilous crossing on small boats.”
I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised especially after the hateful Labour campaign in Gorton
and Denton, but this is just the latest in a string of lies peddled by a discredited Government
who intentionally fan the flames of racism and division.
When I went to Calais, I was not there to encourage people to travel to the UK. I was there
to see at first hand the suffering your Government and successive Governments have done
in demonising migrants in a pathetic bid to pander to the base instincts of Reform and the
flawed strategy of Morgan McSweeney.
As you will know, if you even bothered to research my visit instead of taking Reform talking
points, I was there to witness the brutality of families living in tents in freezing temperatures. I
filled water tanks and picked up litter.
What that visit did do is confirm my belief that if we are to smash the boat gangs and stop
the boats, we need to offer safer and managed routes for migrants to come to this country.
Showing compassion as a politician is not a crime. In fact, we need to see much more of it.
It reminded me of a young MP who in October 2015 spent three days in Lesbos helping
migrants fleeing war-torn Syria. She posted videos on X, talked about handing out water and
croissants to refugees and food parcels.
When she returned to the UK, she wrote a very moving piece in the New Statesman. She
said β€œwe have to work with our European partners and create new, safe, and legal routes for
refugees to get to Europe. We cannot abandon them to their fate, left as prey for smugglers
whilst risking death on the seas.”
She said β€œmaybe we can make ourselves feel better by saying no-one is making them get on
the boats. And again, the Home Secretary is not entirely wrong when …

Dear Shabana,

Let's clear some things up around migration and remember we're talking about people's lives.

We should be asking British politicians this question. Answers provide a powerful indicator of integrity. Not sure I’ve ever heard it put to Farage, for example.

It’s clear now that they were due to announce someone like Kate Hoey, and it didn’t happen, leaving them with a defector that no one knows.

The Trump regime has abandoned the constitution:

- declared war without Congressional authorization

- ignoring multiple court orders

- impounding Congressional authorized funds

- ignoring the freedom of speech and assembly

It’s a lawless regime that has no legitimacy.

The Constitution is clear: Congress decides on war. When a president uses military force without authorization and Congress stays silent, they are abandoning their role as a co equal branch of government. War is the most serious power our government has. Shame on the U.S. Senate today.

WAR CRIME BY THE US.

An unarmed Iranian ship was takIng part in an Indian naval exercise, alongside the US.

The US withdrew and torpedoed the Iranian ship.

THEN the US refused to rescue the sailors, letting them drown.

This is treachery, cowardice, cruelty and a war crime of the highest order.

Strong women don’t ask the powerful for permission.

They hold them accountable.

Elizabeth Warren proves it every day.

Elizabeth Warren didn’t come to Washington to play nice with billionaires.

She came to fight for the rest of us.
