A navy torpedo detonates under the target, lifts it out of the water and cracks the hull. The people who aren’t thrown overboard by the blast are knocked unconscious and buried alive in their compartments when the ship sinks. We did that to 141 people today for no reason.

Hooray! It took me a minute to do this and it was fine. I don’t miss it. I was surprised by how many other e-commerce sites exist.

A one-day slowdown is irritating. A one-month slump is terrifying.

With support for abolishing ICE growing and a bipartisan backlash prompting Trump to at least feign a more conciliatory approach in Minnesota, this is the moment to exert pressure. bit.ly/4aoo0an

If you're living somewhere outside the USA, one thing you can do is pressure your leaders to boycott World Cup and Olympic events here.

Alex Pretti "used to tell people off when they made sexist comments to female physicians. He bought me coffee when I had a really bad day as an intern...I laughed alongside him daily. He made a point to teach medical residents without judgement, but with a smile on his face and a joke."

Abolish ICE, abolish DHS, redistribute the other agencies, prosecute actual criminals, such as people who commit execution-style murders of Americans in broad daylight.

Under RFK Jr., the CDC provides a megaphone to the anti-vaccine movement Common anti-vaccine talking points were on display as the CDC’s immunization advisers repealed a hepatitis B birth vaccine recommendation and scrutinized the childhood schedule.

"During the meetings, committee members and presenters made at least 60 false, misleading or unsupported claims about vaccine safety, disease spread and rationale for childhood vaccination, according to the Evidence Collective, a coalition of science and medicine researchers."

If “pressure from stakeholder groups” is the reason to reopen a working birth-dose policy, we deserve clarity about who those groups are.

Are they broadly representative of parents and clinicians, or primarily anti-vaccine advocacy and litigation networks? Those are very different things.

Screenshot of a CDC slide titled “Michigan, 1999.” It describes a previously healthy 3-month-old infant admitted on December 14, 1999 with diarrhea, jaundice, and acute liver failure from hepatitis B virus; the infant died three days later and had not received a hepatitis B vaccine until age 2.5 months. The slide notes that the infant’s mother tested HBsAg-positive at her first prenatal visit (the first of ten), but the prenatal record sent to the birth hospital incorrectly said she was hepatitis-negative and neither the provider nor the lab reported the positive result as required. A blue box at the bottom states: “The Immunization Action Coalition documented more than 500 transmissions of HBV in these types of situations from 1999 to 2002.”

The least anyone can do is boycott Spotify and Home Depot. Mostly to send a message. I’m amazed by people who claim to be horrified by this but feel like switching to Qobuz or Tidal is too much of an inconvenience. I fear the people with agency are too pampered to act.

I posted a while ago that women tend to think of the office as “place to do work” and a certain kind of man thinks of it as “happy fun play place.” Recall how many bosses wanted to RTO during COVID because they don’t like being home with their family.

Always loved that Arby's/coal fact, and the coal industry has shrunk a lot since then. The piece also noted more people work in museums than in coal..... (and Mr. Weinstein is responding to yet more coal-industry welfare in the name of jobs.)

Why the Senate's 'Most Important Vaccine Study Ever' Was Never Published The fatal flaws that made this study unpublishable

A US senate subcommittee was told this unpublished vaccine study was 'the most important ever.' Henry Ford Health now confirms why it was never published: it failed scientific standards.

That Trump and Trumpism are fascist doesn’t explain the sheer vandalism of unleashing mass murdering mayhem via RFK to replace medical/scientific institutions of immense value and prestige with medieval peasant superstitions. That is a criminal madness facilitated by but above and beyond fascism.
