I think part of their logic is that they need trans people to be both identifiable and miserable. A happy trans person who transitions pre-puberty and just lives a normal life is a nightmare to transphobes.

Some parents are advised to do a little experiment where they go away for a weekend to somewhere they don't know anyone and let the kid dress/present as their new gender. And then they see how happy and free their kids feel and suddenly everything falls into place.

It costs a lot of money and a lot of time to have a trans kid. Gay kids don't have to file paperwork or get special medical care.
Anyone who has even a passing acquaintance with trans kids knows there are SO MANY forms to fill out, name change fees, visits to the school, doctors' appointments, etc. If your kid is gay you don't have to do any of that. The argument that parents are "transing" gay kids is absurd.
What imaginary place welcomes trans girls but NOT gay or effeminate boys? The whole idea is preposterous from the start.
