Gig economy workers may be missing from official employment statistics that show the UK employment rate currently sits at 5.1%.
The Employment Rights Bill marks real progress, but more needs to be done to protect this vulnerable group.
Political will is essential: there needs to be a genuine desire to end poverty, restore the social safety net, and support people living in financial hardship.
