So lovely. π
Good luck! I find them in mixed oak woodlands mostly. They are sweet. π

Iβm so sorry Jeanne. Sending you and your dear friend love and comfort as you navigate this transition. π
Oh, sorry about that! π I often have trouble with videos losing sound when I bring their size down, so I started with sharing a gif. Then I eventually got a video to work with sound and added it. I'm very much lacking in video skills! ha! π

Here's a video of the same spot, if you'd like to hear it...

Oh, I'm so sorry, GP. Blessings on her journey. Take good care of yourself, dear one. Know that she had a fantastic life with and because of you. Holding you in my heart on this saddest day.π
Oak Titmouse facing camera with face full of cat hair they're pulling out of our rosemary bush.
Another shot of one of a pair of titmice gathering cat hair from same bush.
One more shot of a titmouse gathering cat fur in its beak while perched on flowering rosemary bush.
This morning "our" Oak Titmice gathered Leo's fur to line their nest, so egg-laying must be close! They cleared all the fur within minutes. (Each year we save our indoor cat's brushings in the weeks leading up to nesting season.) π

Awesome! Itβs very gratifying to support our bird friends. We have 3 boxes and they have all been put to good use over the years. Enjoy! π
Oak Titmouse looking down at another of our bird boxes today. 'Tis the season!
Thanks! It took me a couple hours, but finally got them going in and out. Speedy little cuties!
Here's another one checking out our "wren box" today. More to be revealed. :)
Close-up of small brown and grey bird holding on to the outside of a bird box hole.
Oak Titmouse perched atop the same bird box, holding nesting material in their beak, looking down towards the entry hole.

I won't soon forget it. Quite a special nature experience.π
What a lovely flower. π
Mostly cloudy sky above green tree tops in foreground. There is a distant low mountain centered beyond those trees, and very distant Outer Northern Coast Ranges on the horizon.

Ditto. I never feel threatened by them, but those growls were a new experience. Like I told Anne, I think it was more about being frustrated with missing out on the squirrel. S/he settled down and just watched me after growling (that's when I got those shots). Fun stuff! :)
Truly! :)
Yeah, a thrill to see the chase...first on the ground & then up the tree. Was surprised to hear growls, but it seemed more about being frustrated with missing her/his meal. ha! After a couple (rather high pitched) growls s/he settled down to just watch me. I got these shots then backed away. Fun! :)
Excellent action shot! π
So lucky! We rented an old farmhouse at the base of Sonoma Mtn years ago & there was a den on the property. We saw all stages of life in our yard over a few years. Watched a kitten sun in our gravel drive for a long time. Juveniles are adorably long-legged. All just beautiful. No Mtn Lion yet tho! π€
Looking up in to a tall California Bay tree with a Bobcat perched behind green leaves. S/he is staring at the camera, very annoyed.
Closer image of same cat in same spot, peeking through leaves with one eye focused on camera.
Very exciting encounter with this beautiful Bobcat, on Sonoma Mtn yesterday! S/he chased a squirrel through the forest and up this tree, but didn't catch it. I got a couple growls for having the gall to document her/his beauty. I did not linger. :) So cool!π
