Neuroscience shows us that when the nervous system regulates first, then the brain can learn.
School systems that support regulation builds learning environments.
A school system that punishes dysregulation, will always create more of it π§ π±

When working with children & young people, true regulation begins from connection, not control.
A calm predictable adult who can lower threat, model regulation, relational safety & allows the brain & nervous system to settle.π§ π±
Casual reminder that the myth of βpulling yourself up by your bootstrapsβ is a cruel hoax designed to convince poor people from all walks of life that the injustices they face are a result of their own actions, rather than an oppressive system rigged against them.
The pro-European glee at rejoining Erasmus is understandable but also betrays a lack of self-confidence.
It's tempting to be the reasonable ones against the Brexit headbangers but that also makes you easy to fob off. There isn't a softly, softly, nicey, nicey way back I'm afraid.
1) Start the worst European war since 1945 and commit every imaginable war crime
2) Decide how you want to be rewarded for your aggression
3) Leak the list of your desiderata to the US press
4) Wait for the US president to enforce your wish list on your victim.
Russian policy 2025
This sounds really interesting.
The depth of the shame of a country this wealthy and abundant allowing its people to go hungry is impossible to measure. The fact that a handful of people could fix this by paying their fair share of taxes while still remaining obscenely wealthy makes it even worse.
Yay. Priceless. The right column at the right time. And a gleefully English two fingers to the haters.
Thanks Guys, it was great to work with you!!
I would like to hear similar sentiments expressed with as much conviction by leading UK politicians.
Wow!
What a breakthrough moment for these women.

Love this!
2. The amount of casual violence in everyday life. Fights outside the pub were a regular feature of life in the 90s in a way they aren't anymore. I often think of this piece by @twlldun.bsky.social on this subject: medium.com/@twlldun/a-b...
It succinctly outlines the essence of violence as not only a response to individual needs, but equally as a historic relic, a commodity for individuals to establish their individual safety needs.
Great work π
As a violence reduction consultant, this piece chimes well with me. I hope you will support my use of a generalisation of this piece.
Brilliant!! lived experience frames expectations, mindful presence, insight and self awareness challenges expectations!! Our personal growth is in our awareness of self and the understanding that others can only see the world through their personal perspective.
Strategic inefficeincies?
This letter appeared in the Yorkshire Evening Post on 14 July 2025. The writer makes clear that the European Union (EU) and European Court of Human Rights (ECHR, or ECtHR) are different bodies. The motivations of anyone who suggests the UK should pull out of the ECHR should be questioned, says the writer. It is unrelated to Brexit.
@yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk letter writer clears up the muddle: #ECHR European Court of #HumanRights & #EU European Union different bodies. ECHR nothing to do with #Brexit. Question motivations of those who object to ECHR: "Never give away #FreedomOfSpeech. Millions died for that."
This doesnβt at all feel Nazi like. Nope.
Young people from battleground childhoods bodies hold the stories of their Adverse Childhood Experiences.Trauma responsive practices enable safe expression to open about how they feel which is healthy & supportive. This helps release stored emotions fostering deep healing. π§ π±
Young people will still suffer if we do not address childhood trauma, and the intergenerational pain will continue.
I've had enough of hurt children becoming hurt adults trapped in dysregulated nervous systems.
We need to grow a nation of cycle breakers.π§ π±

When we are dealing with a dysregulated pupil, we can regulate them by the tone of our voice, how we listen to them, and our non-verbal signals, and they will be able to reflect our calm.
This is called co-regulation. When one nervous system supports and eases another. π§ π±
A walk through Ludlowβs Broad Gate. The only survivor of the townβs original 7 medieval gates, which date back to the 13th century. You can still see slot for portcullis in the gate. Itβs also still used by cars (whom I suspect donβt agree that itβs a broad gate π) #ludlow #ludlowtownwall #medieval
Wisdom we can use right now.
