Lol.
The other book I read while in this state was 'Fire Pattern' by Bob Shaw, it was about spontaneous human combustion.π³π¬π€
Warning!
Do not read while experiencing stomach flu induced fever.
May cause mild paranoia and fever dreams.

There may be pangs and slight eye moistening but you'll be fine.ππ

I read it last November and thought it was OK.
3.5β.
Nothing really memorable about it tbf.

Oh, I recognise those "funny" bits, unfortunately they now make me cringe.
I've only myself to blame.π

The current series I'm reading I read back when I was 12-ish and I found it to be so witty and laugh out loud funny in parts.
I'm not 12 now and I've still got 7+ books to go.
Misery, thy name is nostalgia.

This is an important thread. As a doctor, and as the father of a daughter incapacitated with Long Covid I know only too well how the NHS has abandoned them.
There is much to do in research into treatments and I am glad that colleagues like Binita are championing the forgotten children and adults.
Maybe itβs a bad idea to put people in charge of government who are eager for the rapture.
My Grandfather had Touretteβs. I know that he experienced prejudice and attempts to bully him. Iβve been pretty stunned that in the reaction to the Davidson episode, weβve seen a lot of the ignorance that he, a man living his life in the mid 20th century, would have recognised only too well.
Aion.
I did enjoy the 'Monk and Robot' books.
This week, and beyond, I am reading the 'Stainless Steel Rat' series by Harry Harrison.
(Also 'Fake Heroes' by Otto English in between.)

Just finished this one, my 2nd LS-R and I rather enjoyed it.
She does have a talent for making the reader stop dead in their tracks and go "WHAT?!?!"
Bonus, you really learn things about the Georgian period in London that, if you're like me, you didn't know before.
It's like an edyukashon.π

I'm not really getting the "Five authors I've read at least five books of" thing.
Is that an achievement of some sort?
I haven't read a gazillion books but I could probably think of twenty authors.
Or is it a way to get to know you?
Anyway, as I said, I'm puzzled, lol.

It was interesting and I did like the ending, no spoilers.π

BBCβs Laura Kuenssberg interviews disgraced former PM Boris Johnson for her Sunday show?
I mean this is just ludicrous.
Don't go to the USA.
How a lion's death marked the start of cancel culture After American dentist Walter Palmer shot Cecil, he became the world's most hated man. This film asks if the fury went too far
Yeah. Because the dentist was the REAL victim in the senseless murder of Cecil the Lion.
I can't deny, I first read Nova back in the early 80s and quite enjoyed it.
Listened to it 5 years ago and really enjoyed it, I don't know how much of that was due to being a lot older or the mellifluous tones of Stefan Rudnicki's narration.

I couldn't recommend it more.π
Just about to begin...

For me, it's a book from an author I've enjoyed many times but this one has thoroughly unlikable characters doing the stupidest things possible.
Maybe one day I'll finish it to see just how bad it gets beyond halfway.
The Survivor by Gregg Hurwitz.
