#Prince #bsides #prince4ever #KingOfBsides #ATWIAD #hello
When you take into account technical instrumental prowess, flair, vocal range, production skills, songwriting, dancing, vision, imagination and breadth, I reckon you can make a pretty solid case that Prince is the most musically talented person ever to have existed
I dream of regaining that kind of momentum
Oranges?
Sheβs been outstanding!
Absolute legend!
Spot on! π
π± want!
βIβve walked 10,000 steps. Iβve reached Stygian depthsβ¦β Heβs not lost it.
No. But I will now!
Nah. He has an album for everybody. Shaun of the Dead did it dirty.
Happy Prince Day to all those who celebrate it.
Charles F Spicer said weβd get to hear these again and will find out more tomorrow. Itβs interesting that most of these are from 85/86. Read into that what you will. 14/14
We were also played an early demo of Purple Rain during the tour yesterday, featuring the missing verse. 13/14
The Ladder (live rehearsal). 26 Dec 84. We were told New Years Eve but as it was recorded at St Paulβs Civic Centre it would have been when he was performing there on Boxing Day. A gorgeous almost fully formed version The Ladder from the start of the Purpke Rain tour. 12/14
Love Never Wants 2 Say Goodbye. 1987. The kind of ballad Prince could churn out in his sleep. Itβll have some fans but I can see why it remained in the vault. Very 80s production despite being a demo. 11/14
Turn Me Loose (instrumental). 2008. An instrumental of the Lotusflow3r/ MPLSound outtake that was premiered on The Tonight Show in 2008. 10/14
A Couple Miles. 26 Dec 1985. Intended as a tribute to Miles Davis but unlike the other track he recorded that day Can I Play With U? Prince didnβt want Miles to play on it. A proto-Madhouse thatβs previously circulated. 9/14
Sorry Beatown date was only given as 1986.
Beatown. 26 Dec 1986. Reserved for Graffiti Bridge but he pulled it. A catchy George Clinton inspired monster. Packed full of vocal and horn flourishes over a pounding P Funk beat. 8/14
The Question of U (version 1). 1986. Found on the same tape as The Wild (a song we were told was considered for Parade). An instrumental with crazy busy drums that double speed to the original. Sounds like Santana. Wouldnβt sound out of place on The Rainbow Children. 7/14
Going back in for the panel discussions now. Will resume later.
The Wild. 23 July 1985. Previously leaked as 9 to 5 People and Call of the Wild. I wrote about it a few years ago: www.500princesongs.com/401-call-of-the-wild/
6/14
Shades of Umber (studio version). 2012. Performed a handful of times live, including at Montreux in 2013. Immense instrumental rock with fierce drums high in the mix with guitar and horn fanfares. Possibly with 3rdEyeGirl. Epic (felt 8/9 minutes long) with several tempo changes and drum fills. 4/14
Free (Acoustic version). 2008. Not untealeased as they dropped it yesterday. Can hear it yourself online. They said they picked it as a message to tell their story post Netflix issues. No more info was given about it. 3/14
