So what is it? Conservatism is deeply concerned with the social order,
specifically it is concerned with upholding those parts of the social order that are extra-human in their origin. This is the first, and most significant, conservative core concept. The belief that there are aspects of how society is ordered that are beyond our control, that we did not make and cannot change. Underlying rules that we may deviate from, but only to our detriment. We can, however, recognise them-they are permanent, predictable, and preservable.

This is a good piece.

This definition of conservatism reminds me of Francois Quesnay and the physiocrats, who believed in a (extra-human) β€œnatural order” and a (human) β€œpositive order”, the latter of which needed to be brought into alignment with the former.

yeah, my first guess would be the guys working for the dude bragging on TV about how his boys don't have to worry about any limp dick rules of engagement restrictions anymore too.

I thought this was a really excellent piece - one that captures how Trump really is a break from the past, while remaining unsympathetic to the evils of past conservatism.

I cannot easily describe in words how frustrating and stupid that its been clear for a while now that Donald Trump's biggest wound is his handling of the Epstein files and the Epstein situation, who died not like a year or so ago, but damn near a decade ago, with most of this shit known at the time

A court of law determined that E. Jean Carroll told the truth that Trump raped her, and Trump demonstrably lied in said court when he claimed he’d never met her in his life, but it’s somehow uncouth to mention this.

I’m beginning to have a hunch of a suspicion that the guy who openly bragged about being able to sneak into the dressing rooms at the pagents he owned (also the owner of Miss Teen USA) might possibly potentially be a predator. Perhaps.

He sells oysters to his mom and, on the most fundamental level, that’s just not a real job.

He’s just some guy who doesn’t use moisturizer.

I’m still insulted that he showed up on a stage high as balls and tried to pass it off as being neurodivergent. And then obviously lied about wanting to support neurodivergent people.

It reminds me of that one Russian guy who read Lord of the Rings, saw himself represented in Sauron, and then wrote a fanfic where Sauron is the good guy.

that's why I'd really love sparing me the rational actor assumptions -modeling, there's nobody to fucking negotiate with [the US blew them all up!] and even if there was, we've explicitly said our position of "no negotiations, regime change and/or die" and their position is "revenge". irrational

Secretary Kristi Noem

@Sec_Noem
Thank you
@POTUS
 Trump for appointing me as the Special Envoy for the Shield of the Americas.
@SecRubio
 and
@SecWar
 are incredible leaders and I look forward to working with them closely to dismantle cartels that have poured drugs into our nation and killed our children and grandchildren.

The Western Hemisphere is absolutely critical for U.S. security. In this new role, I will be able to build on the partnerships and national security expertise, I forged over the last 13 months as Secretary of Homeland Security.

We have made historic accomplishments at the Department of Homeland Security to make America safe again: we delivered the MOST secure border in American history, 3 million illegal aliens have left the U.S., we have located 145,000 children, FEMA delivered disaster relief at a 100% faster rate, we ushered in the golden age of travel, saved the American taxpayer $13 billion and revitalized the U.S. Coast Guard.

This is also why I think Rand Paul is voting against Trump so much more than in his last term.

He wants the fawning media profiles calling him as a maverick that he got back in 2014, sure, but he also knows Trump is mortal and he’ll eventually have to point to *something* to differentiate himself.

Honestly I think the only way through it for them is to just admit the orange man really was bad. There’ll be nothing salvageable from his legacy.

Like, if you’re a Republican who wants to build a post-Trump party, you have to either distance yourself from Trump or you have to seek office after he’s already permanently gone. The former is impossible in a personalist regime and the latter hasn’t happened yet.

Oh you're an independent minded rebel who doesn't play by the rules? Fuck you. You've ruined society. Society was right to reject you. No more lose canons. No more outsiders. I want by the book squares running everything and to have more power.
