The C++ book is mysteriously missing from my shelf. Nobody knows why. It's a terrible shame, otherwise I might be tempted to write some.

It's not for everyone. I didn't enjoy BB for other reasons (I haven't watched nearly enough of the correct genre of television), but Bump in the Dark works much better for me than Monster of the Week, for example.
