I have a solid guess which of those two options it isβ¦.

I was incredibly fortunate enough to have Rev. Jackson speak at my HS graduation in the early 90s, at the Kennedy Center no less. In my callow, shallow youth, I did not appreciate it to the depth that I should have, but I certainly appreciate it now and Iβm so glad to have briefly encountered him.
Just another leftist Texan chiming in to say thank you! It definitely feels like itβs easier for other people to just talk crap about the state as a whole instead of acknowledging the hard work we are trying to do on the ground!
*Hate* the name change, but I prefer N-LotR for the acronym (for obvious reasons). (Still this is so very dumb.)
Privileged nepo baby thinks he earned everything on his own merits? And thinks that women and other unrepresentative groups are the ones who have things handed to them? Color me so very shocked.
Oh, what a surprise that Larry Summers is involved.
Larry Summers just keeps racking up the points in the Terrible Human Being contest - gotta keep his streak alive!

Voting for this is a cowardly move that spits in the faces of your constituents and the country. Donβt do this!
Absolutely! Iβve had a lot of respect for Steve Kerr over the years, and this is surprising and disappointing.
Her whole theme was how the US was better off under the British systemβ¦.
I once went to a college commencement (W&M) where the speaker was Margaret Thatcher and she lectured us on how deficient our Constitution is. This article by The Economist reminds me of that. It was not well received.
The latest episode of John Oliverβs show is on higher ed and scientific research, so well worth watching if youβre in either space. My favorite moment was when he showed Trump saying he would βmake Harvard greatβ¦againβ¦probablyβ
If every university president watched, we would be better off
Everyone should walk out on everything this bloviator says all of the time, just like MITβs Nancy Hopkins did back in the day (for those who donβt know the history: web.mit.edu/fnl/vol/174/...)
So glad to see this pointed out and with accurate details as well. Also want to mention the amazing, groundbreaking Nancy Hopkinsβ response at the time: web.mit.edu/fnl/vol/174/...
Thatβs a really effective way of putting it!
I love that series, but Iβm feeling like I shouldnβt be watching any of the new season given the whole Colbert situation. I really like your posts and Iβm curious what your take on this is
So glad to see this point raised. I am in Texas and we have gotten blue alerts for cities all the way across the state. No wonder people have alert fatigue.
This past week, I was able to visit the site of the FBI office burglary in Media PA where a group of ordinary citizens brought down the illegal FBI operation of CoIntelpro designed to intimidate Americans exercising their right to protest and free speech. Important to remember the impact they had.
Their contempt for science, and the rational, reasonable thought it represents, just knows no bounds.
Between his attacks on NIH, NSF, and higher ed generally, Trump has very nearly placed a moratorium on public scientific research in this country, yet legacy media seems determined to frame it exclusively as a snit over Harvard.
Hooray! We are very lucky to have you come down here and help with the fight!
I believe that Jenifer Silk at the University of Pittsburgh had money taken away from her study on preventing suicide in LGBT teens.

From a thread discussing how civil servants can fight back against the fork in the road memo, I present to you OSSβs Simple Sabotage Field Manual from 1944. Section 11 of chapter 5 is the most relevant for now. Itβs also on the CIA webpage, but this is a clean link. www.gutenberg.org/files/26184/...
The USAF removed Tuskegee Airmen & Women Airforce Service Pilots of WWII from basic training curriculum. For 30 years I promised these women I would not let them ever be forgotten again. We worked for decades to have them remembered. The Airmen too. Knowledge is power. ποΈ www.msn.com/en-us/societ...
I'll put a link to the actual document. Warning, the wording of some of it is very inflammatory:
