The shine will wear off, but man, people's capacity for being duped by another class warrior for the rich and the corporate appears to be limitless.

Cooked country.
This is like balancing your household budget by cutting back work hours and investing in scratch tickets.
Austin should try switching to fighting type attacks, those might be super effective 😇

Many raccoons agree, Tim Houston sucks.
Everyone loves "We're all in this together" when there are reserves, debt capacity, and low interest rates.
Less so when the roads and facilities are falling apart, there's no fiscal room to pay for anything, and they think that their constituents are being screwed over by everyone else.
"We have done what we calculated to be just enough to salvage just enough votes.
Still not going to take accountability for our secret spending or cuts to government revenues, gotta continue to use my manufactured deficit as a cudgel against the pinko lefties."
I can’t believe you subjected yourself to that, but your piece was an enjoyable read!
Canada and Nova Scotia are failing to respond to the Trump regime’s mendacious actions
Morning File by me
I enjoy travelling around the province and not once has someone said to me, “do you know what would bring in more tourists? Oil and gas extraction.”
And in other news..... Water is wet
With a very few exemptions, Big Pharma is not interested in antibiotics because they don’t make them the super profits they’re addicted to. Their aim is not better drugs, but higher profits.

I’m out looking for birds (of course) and I often question why birders kind of obsessed with birds. I think part of it is the fun, the beauty, and wonder of birds. But it’s also the peace of birds, at least for me. Peace is a rare trait among humans.
Me too, and on my way home too!
I was surprised to see them fully in place when I went through this morning!
There’s less than a week until the oval closes, and I’m trying to enjoy every last minute.
So, I’m passing through the #BikeHfx Donham Diverter more than I usually do, & am gonna count how many times I have to move the barrels to the middle.
Today (Monday): 0/2
No barrel moves required!
Not to mention that the people in the tourism, arts and culture sector don't destroy nature, won't offload their clean up costs onto the public and will always be here driving economic gains for people who are actually doing something worthwhile instead of polluting the earth.
Facebook post from David W Hillier: “I don't like posting about politics but I had an interesting conversation last night with Tim Houston. He was at the Lismore Wintertime Review in Pictou County where I met him many times at local events. He came up to me with his wife and no security at my audio engineering table and we had a great chat. I told him about our local Music Nova Scotia funding being cut and the broader issues in all of the Arts and Culture. He was aware of the issues but totally pissed off about the retaliation being people screaming FU and FB garbage comments. I suggested starting from scratch but he didn't think that would work and suggested most folks should forget about the Government handouts and get out there finding new ways to make money! What do you think?”
Tim Houston does seem the type to be much more concerned with HOW people are angry with him than WHY, doesn’t he?
this is still stupid
Because I've been preparing a committee statement, I've been thinking a lot about the budget & Financial Measures Act together. This budget isn't really about austerity, it's creating an autocracy.
The point is to subjugate Nova Scotians & consolidate power for resource extraction.
The premier of Nova Scotia’s ENTIRE plan is based on oil and gas extraction. He just said it on air. That is his only plan. Our biggest industry is tourism and he just cut $$ to tourism, arts & conservation (all reasons why people come here).
Tim Houston saying that it's like COVID times is just...ugh. Buddy, you dug this hole. One shovel load at a time. This didn't sneak up on you. There's no dire timeline where you have to make panicked cuts to programs. Frig off ya dolt.
So, I ride horses and am still learning to go faster and fine tune my skills. Horses can spook easily and I am getting better at reining them in so they don't bolt.
Still, I feel safer riding a 1,200-pound horse than being on the streets. Do you know why?
There are no cars in the arena.

If only we were not going in the exact opposite direction.
We can do Growth Pays For Growth, but thst mostly means every neighborhood has to cover its own costs.
Which... some of them aren't going to pull that off easily or in a short time frame.
They're not designed to.

We desperately need Halifax parks to be investing in cargo bikes rather than driving pick up trucks on the pathways. I’m always shocked when I encounter one on the weekend.
I suspect there are more areas we could make this change (e.g., water delivery to encampments).

What's up democracy superfans!
I am in chambers and council is debating budget. I'm late 'cause I forgot my truck was setup for hockey not bike riding. A/CAO Anguish just gave a presentation saying TL:DR: Bad news, we're fucked! Good news, for the first time in 45 years council is dealing with it
