"Enter The Dragon"
Jumping Pound AB, 20260121T0647Z
This image was taken during the 3rd substorm, my camera is pointing towards the Southern Zenith I was shooting at F2.8, ISO 5000 for 5 seconds. Rarely do I see shapes in the aurora, but this is Balerion from "The Game of Thrones".
"In The Colours Of A Rainbow?"
Sibbald Pond West of Calgary 20251113T0130Z
Rarely does one capture such a variety of colours in the aurora, the Rayed Arc "Curtain", filled the Western horizon for an hour, there was no real activity in the East.
The Red Corona
CrossIron Mills Calgary Alberta November 11, 2025 at 0830 MDT
The Remembrance Day Storm of 2025 will go down as one of the most unique geomagnetic storms for its ferocity without knocking out major power systems.
overhead aurora with green and red rays...there is a thin band to the right that looks like a stem and it reminds me of a flower
red and green rays of aurora overhead with hints of purple around the centre
an explosion of red and green overhead aurora
a multi-colored aurora corona overhead
yep...more #aurora from Southern Manitoba ๐ the coronas were too fabulous to keep to myself!

That N2 band is pretty cool!
"A Question of Sanity"
Northeast of Calgary 20251002T0349Z
Rarely does the the aurora explode this fast, the peak of the substorm lasted all of 10 minutes.... it leaves one gob smacked, and one questions "What is Reality"?
Rockyford County East of Calgary 20250915T0530Z First image a SAR arc associated with an unknown green auroral arc, 2nd image the SAR arc at zenith. The display lasted no longer than 5 minutes.

"Expecting the Unexpected"
Jumpingpound, Alberta 20250509T0829Z
Watch the Sun and remember that Coronal Holes(51 and 52) that are negative in the Spring, and are Transequatorial, produce magnificent geomagnetic storms.

Great article on Cecilia Payne, who discovered that the Sun -- and therefore stars -- is made of hydrogen and helium.

That's one of his better pieces.
It's like a disease.... pray that we start to come to our senses and realize that research is necessary....
"The Movie Caught In Between"
West of Calgary Seebe, Alberta,20250501T0540Z A SAID arc/SAR camera is pointing ESE. Notice the RAGDA near the beginning of the movie.
"The 1st Movie Caught In Between"
West of Calgary Seebe, Alberta, A SAID arc/SAR camera is pointing NNW. Notice the RAGDA near the beginning of the movie and the dual red arcs at the end.
The location is Seebee Alberta
"Caught In Between"
Last night West of Calgary Seebe, Alberta, this is a SAID arc in an enveloped auroral arc, or something. First time that I have seen anything like it, my camera is pointing NNW for the first shot, time 20250501T0540Z, the second shot is taken to the ESE, the time was the same.
"The Gentle Dance"

Gentle substorms from a CIR impact, sweeps the aurora borealis into the mid latitude skies in Southern Alberta.
Me too!
"WTF Is That"
Sibbald Pond West of Calgary Alberta 20250419T0430-0510Z
This strange pulsating Aurora(Proton?) cigar, pulsated for 40 min before dissipating. #Protonaurora #Proton #Aurora #Auroraborealis #northernlights
"And The Heavens Said May I"
East of Keoma Alberta 2025018T0400-0500Z
One of the prettiest aurora's that I have witnessed, but that may have to do with the awesome glass like pond for reflection shots . #Aurora #Auroraborealis #northernlights
"Like I SAID"
Northeast of Calgary 20250418T0520Z
At the end of the first substorm a SAID aka STEVE formed and stayed visible for about 30-40 minutes. It was difficult to make out with the eye, so I set my camera's to ISO 5000, F2.8, 13-15 seconds. There was no Picket Fence that I could see.
"The Glass Slippers"
Northeast of Calgary 20250418T0420Z
It took awhile for the charge to build but when the substorm hit it was a beautiful sight to behold. This was a night where the pond was as still as a reflection in a mirror, and I was fortunate enough to be able to capture the aurora.
It appears that the culprit behind the Northward trend in the BZ is a CIR From Coronal Hole 35. Notice the rise in density and the drop in the solar wind speed usually indicative of a CIR
There is also the CH HSS from CH 35 to consider but it may be too early for the stream.
And just like that the field swings North! Won't be any aurora tonight if this keeps up!
