This is also a good time to remember that McMahon is alleged to have been involved in a bribery and towing (auto theft) scam. Cool to see that he is the chief now!

PRESS RELEASE

Statement Regarding Officer Involved Crash

On February 8, 2026, at approximately 9:45 AM, a collision involving two Highland Park Police patrol vehicles occurred at the intersection of Glendale Street and Hamilton Avenue in Highland Park.

The Highland Park Police Department subsequently requested the Michigan State Police (MSP) to conduct an independent traffic crash investigation into the incident. The MSP investigation revealed that the officer driving eastbound on Glendale Street disregarded a red light, leading to the crash. A subsequent internal affairs investigation was also initiated and resulted in the review of video from nearby businesses, body worn and dashcam recordings, along with GPS and other vehicle data showed that one of the officers became distracted while attempting to adjust the department owned in-car camera after returning from a priority call for service. This resulted in a collision with a northbound patrol vehicle on Hamilton Avenue. The crash resulted in minor injuries to one officer and the total loss of both patrol vehicles involved.

In accordance with department policy and practice, both officers underwent mandated drug and alcohol testing, which returned negative results. The responsible officer is a 15-year veteran of the Highland Park Police Department and has accepted full responsibility for the incident. The findings from both the independent MSP and internal affairs investigation will be forwarded to the Police/Fire Oversight Commission for disciplinary review and accountability. The department also issued mandatory reinforcement distracted driving training to all members of the department.

The Highland Park Police Department assures citizens that this incident will impact emergency response times or neighborhood patrols.

You can't make this stuff up. A Highland Park (MI) cop blows through a red light while messing with their dash cam, crashing into another HP cop. One officer injured, both cars destroyed. This is the system we rely on for traffic safety and safe streets.

Like Woodward Ave in Detroit. Nothing says "bike route" like 50+ mph traffic and 5+ lanes for cars.

A kid's food menu featuring simple foods cut into fun shapes like a grilled cheese monster, rocketship quesadilla, etc.

This is a decent kids menu, both in terms of aesthetics and nutrition. We can and should do a better job in the US to include children in our society in a meaningful way, and it can start with little things like this. Accessible seating, space for play and exploration and independence, food, etc.

This book should be in the fantasy category. It's illegal to build like this in most of America.

Very few people outside of Detroit know this but if you try to take public transit in the city someone from GM comes and beats you up and takes your bus pass and your lunch money. Sad!
