but in practise Hungary was already heavily involved in far-right politics and anti-Semitism long before that, with Horthy personally justifying the pogroms in his own memoirs as one of the many examples of that
it's not necessarily known info since there's been a lot of effort put into washing it away, the dominant conservative Hungarian consensus is to defend the horthy regime and try to blame things on the more direct fascist rule after the arrow cross coup at the end of the war
it's kinda not direct info but the song author's wiki page does mention some politics in the aftermath of ww2, and knowing he was Jewish with possiby a real political awareness it seems obvious to infer that he was struggling from that in the time period and things must've looked incredibly bleak
I know this will be obvious to many, but I'm writing this because I see a lot of good-willed people supporting these bans thinking they will do good, I'm not trying to demonise people who think that and I want them to think about the context of the currently changing legal landscapes, that's all

it's not a coincidence that the crackdown on social media through things like age verification laws intensified right after people have massively used non-traditional sources to learn about the Gaza genocide, these laws are meant to funnel people into more easily controlled traditional news sources

a thing that's bothered me is that the idea of isolating non-offending folks seems pretty inherently dangerous insofar as it makes actually dangerous people some of their only openly available interaction, it doesn't really seem sustainable for a healthy society in the long-term
even when I was a minor I never really understood the constant avoidance lol, and also a general trend to avoid even mentioning anything nsfw, you can just interact with minors and not be weird to them while acknowleding they aren't dolls
