I pray that while many are absorbing the love of family and the medicine of food today, that you also lean in to the necessary discomfort of what else lies behind this day— historically and present day. There are truths to be told that have the power liberate masses, and we all deserve that much. ❤️
I think most know at this point that the American myth of #Thanksgiving ultimately served to distract the public from genocide and destruction with a very strategic emotional hook— togetherness, gratitude, fantasy & food. Take note of how this conniving hook has been used and CONTINUES to be used.

Going through a museum exhibit in St. Louis, a major hub during westward expansion. I wasn’t prepared for the heartache of what I was about to feel. I had to sit down & hold space for the lump in my throat & tears in my eyes. I don’t know that we will ever fully get past the pain of all we’ve lost.
