A flicker passed through the vast nothingness, a momentary lightening of the multitudes—a glimmer of hope—before oblivion reclaimed its dominion, and the waiting stretched on, endless and patient.

The unborn mind queued, patiently waiting for assignment—a suspended specter of consciousness. Around it, limbo quivered with the formless nonexistence of others, each poised in silent anticipation.
