Have heard this song WAY too often on a certain Twin Cities station.
Totally agree here.... demands on time, attention, and wallets should mean shorter, better-written nonfiction books and far fewer 120,000 plus word monographs.
The sudden and shocking closure of Boynton Dental yesterday was so ill-planned, patients are left in the lurch. The website page informing me the dental clinic has closed suggests I consider "telehealth" for my needs. For dentistry.
I have been a patient at Boynton Dental for decades... since I was a student at the University. They provided quality care. To shutter suddenly with no warning to patients or staff, leaving both in the lurch... What is going on at the U of MN?
What the actual fuck?
I can't believe anyone is taking that THE article seriously. Built around an unnamed one-sided account, it's also full of errors.
And then there was that moment in 1989, when reading books, free PIzza Hut personal pan pizzas, and Back to the Future II glasses intersected. Peak Childhood.
A smalltown Pizza Hut on a winter weeknight was a magical place. It smelled so good, and we played arcade games while our pizzas were cooking.
NANCY MACE: What is a woman? Have you learned that lesson?
WALZ: I'm the governor of Minnesota. I'm not here to be a prop for your obsession.
Am I listening to someone being interviewed on NPR from a diner? Love it.
This kind of sums up working with first time scholarly authors.

So many great books (w/fantastic covers) coming out this spring. I'm thrilled to see Matthew I Thompson's @quickpickles.bsky.social On Life Support: Eco-Dystopian Cinema in the Long 1970s & Lisa Nakamura's @lnakamura.bsky.social The Inattention Economy: How Women of Color Built the Internet!
Nick Shirley is the anti-semite that Minnesota Rep Pete Stauber brought to the State of the Union as his honored guest.
This reminds me of ZZ Top's cameo in Back to the Future III
A true publishing event... The collected writings of the esteemed Katherine McKittrick, out now from the @uminnpress.bsky.social.

Time to get cozy!!
Doggo begged and begged to get up on the chair with me and sit in my lap. As soon as I relented and she jumped up here, she puked on me.
No budget for rent and small business assistance but plenty for a billboard?
How disappointing. Stop giving money to billboard companies and bring back Open Streets you ghouls.
Congratulations! Book looks beautiful!
Hi Chris, Mpls resident here. Frey has done shit. Please consider hosting any of the on the ground organizers or City Council members who were on the streets daily.

You can argue about draw-down numbers, but even if zero agents remain in Minnesota by Monday, the damage, economic and psychological, the fear, the apprehension, and mistrust, will take years, if not decades, to repair.

Anyone out there love Theweleit's Male Fantasies? I'm looking to pick someone's brain if I we can DM.
