Petition: make the Olympics permanent so the only breaking news I ever see again is curling tactics and epic ski jumps. Who's signing? โœ๏ธโ›ท๏ธ

Viruoso snow shoveler reporting for duty โ„๏ธ๐Ÿ”ฅ

You can take the boy out of #Buffalo, but you can't take the Buffalo out of the boyโ€ฆ.even in #Memphis.

Not sure whatโ€™s more annoying: the plastic shovels sold here or the cat overlord side eye ๐Ÿ˜’

Wowโ€ฆ.i used to make competent cells for the my PhD lab. Talk about a thankless job and everyone blames you when your transformation doesnโ€™t work or you run out when someone uses that last 40 vials but doesnโ€™t tell anybody โ˜น๏ธ

That brings back memories: on my Grad School visit to Stony Brook I stayed in the basement apt of one of students for a night (sooo Long Island) and had a hotel room for the second night (fancy). I still randomly remember watching NYC news about unsanitary conditions in some Manhattan restaurants ๐Ÿคญ

Mind blown ๐Ÿคฏ from Chris Laumonnerie's talk at our Department seminar! Newborn neurons in the developing brain aren't just cholesterol consumers... they're active PRODUCERS too! ๐Ÿ’ฅ

Paired with a brand-new biosensor that lets us watch this cholesterol economy in real time: slick data incoming ๐Ÿคฉ

Surrounding yourself with phenomenal people + doing work you actually care aboutโ€ฆ is whatโ€™s needed

I donโ€™t assume others use it. But with all the microscopy videos my lab produces, not using PowerPoint has kept me sane throughout my career ๐Ÿ˜‡

Long view retcon: trading away the 2017 draft pick that your mentor uses to select the QB they thought was the perfect one for their system and then not being able to best the Reid-Mahomes combo is the Billsy-est storyline ever.

Our work uncovers how modularity in the DCC-ECD shapes axon guidance and neuronal migration.Using mouse lines with mutations in Netrin-1 and Draxin binding sites, we show how distinct DCC modules drive precise circuit assembly

Thereโ€™s a lot of work that show leaning and mastery are non-linear in many situations. โ€œRangeโ€ by Epstein and โ€œArt of the impossibleโ€ are good books to read on the topic. But the 10000 hours idea really only applies to repetitive tasksโ€ฆ.exactly the types of things Iโ€™d hope science isnโ€™t lol

Hahโ€ฆ.agreed but I still like to keep some active. Gives me the perspective of whatโ€™s possible so I donโ€™t ask people the equivalent of the โ€œbeautifulโ€ experiment my PhD advisor would always ask first year grad students and break them because โ€œbeautifulโ€ does not equal โ€œpossibleโ€ lol
