Hello #CambridgeWard, here are some of my highlights for last month π
Hello #CambridgeWard, here are some of my highlights for last month π
Reminder for Cambridge Ward residents
Our drop-in surgery is tomorrow (Friday 20 February) 10am to 11am at Leyland Road Methodist Church.
Please feel free to come along and raise any council related issues with me and Cllr Leo Evans.
No appointment needed.
A public session has been announced on the proposed restoration of the Hesketh Park Conservatory.
Residents are encouraged to attend and find out more. #CambridgeWard
New planters now installed outside Churchill Avenue shops!
Itβs something Iβve wanted to do to brighten up the area since even before I was elected.
Funded by ward funds from all Cambridge Ward councillors.
Thanks to the Council and the Natural Alternatives team for sorting. π
Iβm pleased to see the 8 new trees now planted on Emmanuel Road, funded from the Cambridge Ward Sefton Council budget and agreed by all three ward councillors.
Today I was out delivering our newspaper in Marshside and had some lovely chats with residents.
If you see me out and about in #CambridgeWard, please do stop for a chat. Itβs always great to meet residents. π
Iβve completed this consultation and would encourage residents to do the same.
Alongside national action, practical local steps matter too. Some areas now have safe knife disposal bins to take weapons out of circulation.
This is something Iβd like to see in Southport and Sefton.

I was very pleased to hear the @libdems.org.uk in London have announced Operation Ironclad. Tool theft is an issue which is personal to me, this new campaign will build on my work locally over the last year on this.

It was a busy January in my role as a councillor. Hereβs my monthly update for residents in #CambridgeWard
Had a nice Sunday walk with family and the dog around Hesketh Park today. The fountain looks great freshly painted. π

I had a walk around Southport Municipal Golf Links today with Cllr Leo Evans and Green Sefton, discussing recent maintenance and on-going work on the course.
As ward councillors we are looking at how we can complement that work in the lead up to this yearβs Open in Southport.
Broken paving flags and a missing bollard now replaced after I raised the issue. Getting more done of the small things that matter in my role as a local councillor. #CambridgeWard
Thanks to everyone who mentioned me and to Southport News for raising awareness of the upcoming local elections and the work that councillors do.
Helping residents is always a team effort and Iβll keep doing my best for Cambridge Ward.

Two Southport Liberal Democrat Councillors are asking the council to step in over a long vacant site which continues to cause concern for local residents after years of inactivity.

They do, I think one year on pothole repairs but I donβt know the exact terms and conditions.
Thanks Owen, shocking that. I will be onto it if this happens and requesting a proper job.
New benches installed outside Hesketh Park in Southport. #CambridgeWard
Some potholes I reported in Cambridge Ward are being filled in today. I only reported them last week. It shows why reporting issues and chasing them up matters.
Tonight I attended the Overview and Scrutiny Regeneration & Skills Committee meeting. This was my first choice committee and Iβve been a member of it since being elected.
These meetings are an important part of holding the Council to account and representing residentsβ concerns.
Liberal Democrat run South Cambridgeshire District Council are installing solar panels to charge their electric bin lorries.
Cutting carbon. Boosting biodiversity. Delivering a greener future.
Another of the questions I asked at Council this week was about the missed Christmas bin collections. You can hear my follow up question and the response from the Cabinet Member here. #Southport #CambridgeWard
Thank you π
One of the questions I asked at Council this week was about pavement gritting outside schools.
You can hear my follow-up question and the response from the Cabinet Member in the video.
I will continue to push for pavements outside schools to be gritted as a priority.
Hereβs some of what I got up to in December.
Iβm aware some bin collections are still outstanding and this will be escalated in the week.
If thereβs anything you want me to look at in Cambridge Ward, please get in touch.
Merry Christmas to everyone in Cambridge Ward and Southport
I hope youβre able to have a good one. I know itβs not an easy time for everyone, my thoughts are with anyone struggling.
Thanks to our frontline services,
volunteers, local businesses and staff who look out for others all year round. ππ€Ά

Hereβs my November Round-Up For Cambridge Ward
Itβs been another busy month alongside my full-time work, Iβve continued challenging decisions at Council and helping residents with day-to-day issues.
No surgery in December, but you can still contact me anytime if you need help.
At Council next week I am proposing a motion which will hopefully lead to permitted development rights being removed from telegraph poles in Southport.
It was nice to see this piece on it in Stand Up For Southport
