I have the opportunity to teach a 6-8th grade elective course; it will basically be literature circles. I need to come up with a course title and description. What would you call it?

Iβve ordered from @novelneighbor.bsky.social and will receive it when I come to their STL event to hear you speak. So excited!
So happy youβre still here! Iβm excited to see you at the MASL conference in April. π β€οΈ

The school board in my district is considering cutting school librarians on Tuesday at their board meeting. If you can, please help by emailing the members to show your support for keeping them ‡οΈ
Sheβs from my state! Sheβs incredible.
As are you! β€οΈ
Iβm currently listening to your book.
I woke up this morning and saw a bunch of state park closure announcements, and severely cut hours, from across our state. The comments were so nasty and hateful and usually revolved around thanking DOGE. Anyone who said they were sad about the closures got laughing emojis and ugly remarks. (1/8)
Entered! My 6th&7th grade girls are obsessed with your books. Just put in an order with my book vendor for every one of your books that I didnβt already have.
Thanks for the opportunity to win a copy.
Gorgeous!
I had 4th grade Ss making comics and one table worked together and had all their comics connected. 1 wrote the beginning, 2 wrote middle, 1 wrote the end. It was great!
Love the explaining component! I have my 6-8 students doodle/sketch while listening to podcasts/audio books. I will add having them explain their image to a classmate.
#TLSkyChat A8: Facebook groups, TikTok, and Instagram. Everything I know I learned from social media. π
#TLSkyChat A6: Reflection handout for students to fill out while listening to a read aloud. Space for Questions-? they have, Relatable- connections to the book, Quotable, a Doodle, Important - things they think are important/want to remember, Discuss-answer to discussion ?

Iβm in a K-8 school district and weβre all in one building, so it makes collaboration a little easier.
#TLSkyChat A5: Book bins on the tables with a variety of pictures books, fiction & nonfiction, various grade/reading levels. Every K-5 class starts with silent/quiet reading & book sharing. I try to rotate the books and or the bins weekly.
#TLSkyChat A3: havenβt had a chance bc of βοΈ days, but Iβve collaborated with the MS social studies teacher. She will bring her classes to my Elm classes to buddy read nonfiction picture books about historical black Americans for BOM. They will discuss problems and solutions.
#TLSkyChat A2: First Line Face Off stack of books on the tables Timer set for 2-3 minutes -Ss read the first few lines of a book. Time up- Ss try to convince their group why their first lines are best. Do twice at each table, then switch tables. It works because itβs fast paced.
Hi! Thanks! I deleted my OG post but have reposted. ππ» is a great way to give a quick assessment.
#TLSkyChat A1: My go to protocol for student engagement is ππ», ππ», sideways thumb. ππ» if Ss have an idea or answer, ππ» if they donβt know/need help, sideways if they think they know/not sure. I also use it for opinions on the read aloud. ππ»= great ππ»=not a fan, sideways = meh/take or leave.
So excited to see you in St. Louis! I just need to decide which pair of my Awesome Socks Club socks to wear. π
This was my question, too. Thanks for asking it!
I didnβt know about this list! My school library is fine free! I donβt charge overdue fines or for lost and damaged books.
This is a great read!
I understand. My classes are reading Holocaust survivor novels and the parallels in their stories and what is happening now are justβ¦too much. I alternate between anger and and sadness, both of which make me cry.
π
I would use black, red & orange. π
