Beyond the base level of racism in the 1950s … I don’t think replica Negro League hats even existed in any mass produced way until decades later.
But also the base level of racism.

In “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters,” a white character in the 1950s wears a KC Monarchs hat.
I absolutely love the hat but this feels like the least realistic aspect of a show in which Godzilla and King Kong are characters.
It heartens me to know that the people trying to interfere with Scouting would be horrified to come to our camps and see such a motley collection of lovable weirdos and misfits and jocks and nerds all working together. And girls. So many girls. Awesome, independent, brave and hilarious girls.
The accusations are true. Scouting did go "woke." They even added a phrase to the Scout Oath that made being "mentally awake" one of the core tenets of the organization.
It's hard to believe President Taft didn't step in to stop them (since, you know, that happened in 1911).
Yup. Whereas even us washed old people who were very aware of Live when they blew up would have zero chance of naming a second member of the band. I read that whole article and didn’t recognize or retain any of their names. They could have just made them up and I’d have no way of knowing.
I know Journey played without Steve Perry, and it definitely felt weird, but at least they had the legitimate claim that they were a legitimate band before Perry joined them
I’m not sure if this is how the law works, but if I went to a Live show and it was the other guys and not Ed I’d be like “this is crap, where is the bald guy?” and if I went to one with Ed and a different group of musicians … I wouldn’t notice www.rollingstone.com/music/music-...
Jerry Seinfeld, meanwhile, is 71. Just two years short of how old Hume Cronyn was when the film was released.
I don’t wash my face regularly, I absolutely never wear sunscreen (I do wear hats, because bald) and I rotate between six or seven plaid shirts. I am all over this thread!
So yeah, Looksmaxxing is wild to me.
Jazz’s career highs are 31 and 40, for what it’s worth
Doubting that Jazz Chisholm can get 50-50 is reasonable but Jose Canseco’s career highs were 33 and 15 when he promised a 40-40 season.
Setting outrageous goals is cool. Delivering on them is even cooler.
Repeatedly playing the ad about the doctor who got Lindsey Vonn back skiing when she proceeded to tear her ACL and then immediately had a horrific crash and a career ending injury is some big “Dan vs Dave” energy. Surely they could swap in some psoriatic arthritis ads instead.
The obvious answer: cut both in half and examine the differences!
I know it’s not factored into the ratings but Bad Bunny’s halftime show was a rare crossover hit between the 7th grade boys and 9th grade girls in Connecticut. Benito built a bridge no one thought was possible.
Almost feel like he needs to justify not being a Giants or Jets guy?
I saw Green Day for the first time as a preteen and just watched them play the Super Bowl with my 12 year old son.
A great moment punctuated by my 14 year old daughter saying “Aren’t they older than you? Why are they still doing this?”
You know what would have been a better summation of the Bay than an outsider talking about bands and poets from 50 years ago? Marshawn Lynch just saying we don’t have to explain ourselves to you and then the video cutting out.
Hard to gauge how obscure of a reference he’ll try to make. Can I get odds on him talking about eating an It’s-It?
I’m a vegetarian so I cancel this out. Me and Bobby = 1 omnivore.
I never actually extricated myself from the Super Bowl after the sports department disbanded, because there was plenty of Styles stuff to do.
But barring something happening that touches on election analytics, I’ll be watching the game strictly as a fan for the first time since 1999. SO WEIRD.
I appreciate you being concerned about Draymond being violently struck by an overly anxious opponent but I think he’ll be fine. Very tough guy.
Ouch! Thanks for the flag. I hope Draymond’s elbow is ok. Impact like that could affect his shoulder too. Something to monitor.
Hi guys. Draymond is actually the best. In so many ways. Thanks for understanding.
Twenty one years ago I posted a questionable Seth Cohen take on the internet and it led directly to me meeting the girl of my dreams, getting married and having kids.
The lesson here: Never stop posting your takes, no matter how bad they are.
The girl who calls you an a-hole might be the one.
Really struggling with the judgement my Upstate NY wife will impose on me for not having shoveled yet with the fact that I haven’t shoveled because I’m trying to let her sleep
Wrote this before the vote where he got 7.3 percent. Felt just as good about it then as I do now that he’s a HOFer www.nytimes.com/2018/01/10/s...
I think he was mostly crowded out with guys like Glenn Hubbard, Stan Javier and Mike Gallego all competing for ABs, along with him having some injuries. And then went to worse teams where there was more opportunity.
In another era maybe he'd have been valued more a la Ben Zobrist.
(Would that add up to warranting a HOF vote? Maybe in a year where I only thought nine guys legitimately deserved it and wanted to hand out the 10th vote as a career achievement award.)
I loved him on the A's, but his explosion when he left was just outrageous. A seven-year stretch from ages 31-37 where he had 32.9 WAR and a slash line of .277/.396/.412.
Makes you wonder what he'd have done with more health/opportunity in Oakland.
Solid and versatile defender too.
I usually say my commute doesn’t feel long even if it takes a while. It turns out that doesn’t apply when Verizon is entirely out of service and I didn’t bring a book with me.
