My daughter asked me "When was the last time we were at war?" I said, "It's easier to answer the last time we weren't at war. As someone born in the mid 1980's, I think the last time we weren't at war was a Tuesday"

Just counteract it with Adderall and let them fight it out
Just in case you're curious, Zuck/Meta are trying to stop people from sharing the link to ICE List, so here it is, do with it what you please.

Energy usage aside, I'm curious now...

Houthi boogaloo?
It's been a while since I've played, but that's really sad to hear...
I've gotta say.. playing SANS Holiday Hack Challenge (#hhc) this year and seeing that the entire thing was AI generated was so disappointing.. when I worked there, the human touch was the most important part. Now it's 100% slop.
I guess capitalism comes for everything eventually..
It has been <1 day since I've heard someone say "single pane of glass" in a meeting.
Switched Unbound to forward to Quad9 and other public DNS servers and the issues immediately went away. Has anyone seen this type of issue before? Are there specific settings needed for Unbound to reliably connect to root DNS servers? I tried with and without DNSSEC.

Was getting intermittent DNS resolution failures, latency, and general instability when using Pi-Hole -> Unbound resolver on OpnSense. Unbound logs were showing multiple SERVFAIL and NXDOMAIN messages. Checked MTU, NAT, and firewall rules, all configured properly.

I'm regrettably mono-lingual. However, I know some words from languages. So when a delivery driver is on a call while dropping something off, sees me, and immediately says something about "pendejo", it's not a good look. Maybe it was coincidence, but it's a tough case to make.
Looks nice, but I wish it was in a Hat format. Increasing the lateral footprint might be problematic for some
Remember when they said upgrading RAM is the cheapest and most effective upgrade to a computer system? Good times...
I understand everyone has things in their lives that the rest of us would never know about or understand, but what is it about walking into an airport that immediately grants people a sense of entitlement?
Same here. Status page is throwing a connection refused. Main page just times out.
There's zen in building a new PC, inserting the parts, routing cables, and having it all light up in harmony the first time. That peace is quickly nuked by spending hours making #windows11 function like a normal OS instead of spyware.

I'm confused why in this case the organization had K and N be the same, unless I'm missing something (strong possibility). Imagine if a similar scenario occurred with DNSSEC, Let's Encrypt, or some other centralized entity that the internet relies on.
4/4
My previous assumption is/was that if you have N key holders, say 5 for example, you would need K key holders present at any time to unlock, say 3. That way, if a key was lost or compromised it could be replaced without invalidating the integrity or availability of the entire system.
3/4
I don't know the inner workings of this organization or the Helios system. However, the "K of N" scenario that they had in place seems odd in that a single missing key holder renders the data irretrievable.

Wow, the stock market is skyrocketing...oh wait, that's Downdetector.com, crap.

Context inherently introduces complexity, but it also is usually the deciding factor. "Will this work?" "Is this secure?" It's impossible to tell unless there's context. I often think of my role as a context keeper that happens to also have some technical knowledge.

I've been doing this IT/infosec/cybersecurity thing for long enough that now I get asked the "How do I get started?" type of questions. TBH, I don't know, but the more I do this job, the more I've learned to understand the importance of "context".

As much of a curmudgeon as I am, I get a very real, deep, and true sense of pride when I vote.
It's hard to describe why, but has very little to do with the particular people or issues I vote for and more about participating and doing something that I feel will help my community.

Oh awesome, so now data center and repair techs will need to be astronauts. I wonder what the SLA is for repairs on orbiting data centers?
