Concerned and disappointed that Ars Technica looks like it may have briefly posted an AI-generated article (complete with made up quotes). Appreciate that they're looking into it, and understand it will take a (work)day or two.

The only sensible reform is to dismantle ICE as an entity, and criminally prosecute agents who committed violent crimes.
It's necessary. But it won't be possible unless you start talking about it. The far right will consider *anything* unreasonable. So push for what's right for the country.
Please, if you have the means, consider doing this. We will have to rebuild the trustworthy news media as we once knew it, and doing so means supporting fiercely independent outlets with our money as well as our clicks.
For my own future reference as well - another place to donate: to folks making & sending whistles to the communities who need them.
For any elected official who needs to hear this, I impart a lesson learned from the NFL:
When the other team is tired and on the back foot, you don’t call a timeout so they can catch their breath. You grind their fucking face into the dirt until the final whistle blows and you’ve won the game.
I would argue that the case for dismantling ICE has, at this point, virtually nothing to do with larger questions of immigration enforcement and reform, it's just clearly incompatible with a free and democratic society to maintain a secret police force with sweeping and arbitrary authority.

Any Democrat who wants to see the US thrive as a safe and sane country must commit to eliminating ICE, and to prosecuting those who have committed violent crimes with the blessing of the Trump administration.

Similar thought process - the images we've seen where protesters carry American flags also are visually impactful. It reinforces the message that what ICE & this administration are doing is an attack on America.
Sure. But "solving problems" MUST include justice for people who are increasingly being targeted, terrorized, kidnapped, and even killed by agents of their own government.
There must be consequences for those in power who are chosing to do harm, or it will keep happening.

In a vacuum he'd probably not be my first choice. But in the current political climate, I'm enough of a pragmatist to value broad appeal more than I otherwise might. And he'd sure as hell be worlds better than the current administration.
If anything, the fact that it's slightly less effective this year makes it even MORE important that anyone who can safely get a flu shot gets one. Infectious diseases are best combated by community response b/c low risk people can still spread the flu to their higher risk friends and neighbours.
Are you publicly calling for Schumer to go? If not, it's hard to trust that you truly are ready to fight back, that you aren't just playing a choreographed role. I understand damage control, protecting the party if it was a given that there would be 8 "yes" votes. But it's time to play hardball.

WTF. Lately, Teen Vogue showed up as an example of what journalism *should* be. This is such a blatant, unapologetic reversal of that... gutting a publication that made a point of building excellence out of the everyday. It's sickening.
