The utterance of "A.I.'s inevitability" is one of the most stark pure performatives I've seen in my time working in higher ed. Every time it is uttered, it is clearly not reporting a fact about the world but instead actively trying to create the reality it narrates. We can and must refuse.

Fundamental category error: there's no reason to forgive information dispensers for dispensing incorrect information, any more than I'd "forgive" a ticket machine dispensing the wrong ticket & charging me a million quid. We forgive humans on an ethical and emotional basis, not informational.

i’ll end this little brainstorm by just asking what it is, exactly, that the MAGA right likes about the United States, since it explicitly rejects those things that make this nation distinctive — its pluralism, its revolutionary heritage and egalitarian aspirations, and its republican institutions
