So the reason all the Aurelianos get killed is because the gringos start hiring goons to police the town and do what they want with the townspeople and Colonel Aureliano threatens to arm his sons and fight them

Remedios just... floats into the sky one day? Never to be seen again. Also she was apparently so beautiful (cause of her smell or something) she'd cause great turmoil in men to the point where they'd fucking die

is gentrification even the right word? cause they're not colonizers, they came by train, though they did build their own entirely separate town instead of living directly in Macondo

oh so this is the part of the story where gentrification by gringos happen and the town falls apart, got it

the bananas in Macondo have tiger stripes on them

Like he's being compared to José Arcadio Buendías (the original) a lot, but in a way thats like he can actually accomplish things instead of wasting time and going crazy about it. He even made the ice factory that José thought about in the very beginning

......the twins end up sharing a woman who confused them as the same person and neither of them cleared things up

as children apparently the twins shared all their sensations and were so alike that nobody could tell them apart and at some point they switched their names so even Ursula, once they were adults, wondered if they themselves mixed up their identities

all of the men in this book share the same three fucking names

oh my god, Granny Weatherwax understand so little of the play that the crowd believes that the commentary from the Witches is part of the fucking act

the crown might be magical? It called out to Weatherwax and when she put it on she caught a glimpse of the memories of past kings. The witches decide to leave it with a band of theater players because crowns have a tendency to be found no matter where you hide them

Weatherwax is apparently special among witches because she has a metabolism

every time Aureliano goes out to do war he comes back worse than when he left

here are all of Aureliano's sons, all named Aureliano. Too bad we know all of their fates. Their dad is out trying to start more revolts against the government. And failing. AGAIN.

and so, when José Arcadio Buendías finally died, after living so long under an oak tree, it rains a steady stream of yellow flower petals that carpeted the town

btw Amaranta didn't marry Pietro despite getting so jealous of Rebeca that Remedios was killed as a consequence. She rejected him so strongly that he committed suicide. And now here is yet another man that wants to marry her and she is also rejecting him

so Arcadio was executed, the government won the war, Aureliano's execution was stopped, and Rebeca's husband was killed by something mysterious and his corpse smelled so strongly of powder that it could be smelled through the ground above his grave
