Here for the Jim Belushi renaissance!! Belushissance?
Black women film critics and writers have a hard enough time in this space doing their actual jobs. Iβm so proud of my friend for speaking up and loudly about her experience working for this horror outlet.
Note: though sheβs offering this for free, support her and add funds while youβre there.
An image of a locket with a drawing of a young blonde girl on one side and Chappell Roan in vampire drag on the other layered over the lesbian flag. On the bottom of the image is a screenshot of a Letterboxd review for INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE (1994) that reads: "rip claudia you would love chappell roan singing 'she sunk her canine teeth in the side of my neck'"

A movie theatre screen displays a screenshot from the film THE DECLINE OF WESTERN CIVILIZATION PART II: THE METAL YEARS featuring a white man in a leather jacket pointing to his eyes. The caption reads: "Me personally, I might wear a little bit of eyeliner."
Our THE DECLINE OF WESTERN CIVILIZATION PART II: THE METAL YEARS screening will include on-screen subtitles for the duration of the film. This is an effort by us to create a more accessible, inclusive movie-going experience and will not affect other Revue Cinema programming.βοΈ

Anyway, please take care if you do choose to watch. Ultimately, it deals with the topic sensitively, but it is explicit in descriptions and depicts the long-term effects of this kind of early harm.
Of course, if you've dealt with sickness in your life or in a loved one's, it will hit hard. But the show is about this, so it's not a surprise when you tune in. This other part of the show is a huge thread, but I didn't know about it until I started watching.
Wish there was a content warning on DYING FOR SEX (a show I really loved). If you have any childhood trauma related to SA, it has the potential to be very, very triggering.
