Were you already into Nirvana the Band from their web series/Vice show, or is the film an entry point for you? Or via BlackBerry, maybe?
I think “Truth and Dare” is a first attempt to go that route, but I feel like that program hasn’t really gotten off the ground as yet?

Absolutely this. Have spent years imploring Hot Docs management to replicate the Revue model, working with more outside programmers in the manner you describe. It’s especially important with docs, which don’t have the marketing profile of features. There needs to be a face/brand to connect with.
Dude. 1000000000%. When I programmed a series there last year, I started a DIY instagram feed for it because I knew the official account wouldn’t reach the audience I was targeting. Got way more traction with 500 eventual followers than the 45K+ who follow the actual HD account.
They recently hired Vivian Belik from the TIFF Cinematheque team and she’s committed to making this kind of programming the norm rather than a sneaky exception. I invite you to raise those expectations!
