Musk is one of those pushing for regime change. There were plenty of points where British and US politics have been out of sync and it was fine - Blair and Bush. But in the Maga movement, there is something else: Maga wants to export Maga. In Nigel Farage, it has someone who positions himself as "first friend"
What follows the pageantry, then, is a test of nerve. Washington's Anglophiles are not content to cheer Britain from the stands; they want to rewrite its rulebook and cast Westminster as the next front in their domestic struggle. The test for Sir Keir Starmer is whether he can welcome the friendship without importing the fight.

My students this term have been *passionate* in their rejection of generative AI. I think the wildfires have something to do with it – the environmental impact of data centers, the scarcity of water, the terrible losses they’re seeing. . . it makes the ‘abstract’ of the climate crisis very real.
