Seems to have rubbed quite a few Goodreads reviewers the wrong way, but I thought it was a lot of fun, although the last chapters were less convincing. I wonder if some were expecting Mean Girls when really it's more Heathers with a dash of The Secret History.

Ralph Fiennes and Jack O'Connell as Dr Ian Kelson and Sir Lord Jimmy Crystal in Nia DaCosta' 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple
I love the whole 28 X Later series, even Weeks. In some ways The Bone Temple is the boldest of the lot. Nia DaCosta thoroughly gets this material and draws out a raft of impeccable performances. Hope we don't have to wait too long for the conclusion but I suppose it'll be a couple of years at least.
Bold moves to scale things down, drop the pace and make it so 'talky' - but all good moves for a mid-trilogy movie, and a first-rate director and cast make it work. I can't wait for the next one to go full Danny Boyle; I think we won't get full value from The Bone Temple till then.
Nasty and transgressive in ways horror fiction rarely is nowadays, but far from heartless. www.goodreads.com/book/show/60...
RIP BΓ©la Tarr. It might be time to upgrade to the 4K restored version of Werckmeister Harmonies, but I'm giving my old DVD one more spin on his memory.
Still not really my bag but this was much better than I expected. The relationship between the two siblings was nicely developed and he has a good ear for dialogue. Nothing groundbreaking but a good read.
Didn't quite reach stratospheric heights for me but he can certainly write. I enjoyed the subtler touches and the relationships more than the shocks and gore. Must be getting old. I never seem to have time to re-read books but I think a second visit would pay off with this one.
Not my usual thing but included in Kobo Plus so here goes. Also heard Grady Hendrix on a podcast and he seemed like a good sort. Perfectly readable so far. #goodreads #nowreading

And now we're into all kinds of interesting questions not only about the validity of AI-assisted art but also about the role of artistic intention. If this is accidental, it's just slop. If it's deliberate, the exact same object might be genius.
The plot thickens π€ To be honest, any explanation seems more plausible than the idea that nobody at any stage of the process noticed that something was off with their merry Christmas scene.

Sounds promising. I loved A Wounded Faun and it did spring to mind when watching the Keeper trailer and reading about the movie. Hoping to see it this weekend.
I usually like to rant at length about 'AI' 'art', but there's really nothing I can add to this. It's doing my job for me
Bewitching folk tunes and drones from supremely gifted and exquisitely named banjo player and instrument maker Jacken Elswyth, also of Shovel Dance Collective. Can't help imagining these pieces in the soundtrack to a folk horror film, but that's my problem.

The First Omen was such a pleasant surprise. Also this reminds me that I need to watch Channel Zero which I missed first time round.
Hummingbird feathers are made of a protein called keratin and feature a complex, iridescent structure composed of flat, hollow melanosomes stacked like pancakes, which refracts light to create brilliant colors. This structural color is a result of light bouncing off the layered surfaces, creating a shimmering effect that is unique to each angle of light. I mention all that because I stuck my camera in a male Anna's face at the feeder and I love all the details of his feathers this close up.

Well, it's a 'demon' of the Church's own making. The Christian Devil didn't take on that fauny-satyrical look until they took umbrage with the Pan trend of the 19th Century.
I've never seen The Outcasts. This edition looks like a great opportunity to fix that.
It isn't really anything like the movie Near Dark but it's a Southern vampire story so that's my inevitable point of reference. Very good so far. I see the Cormac McCarthy comparison too although this book has full punctuation and quotation marks. www.goodreads.com/book/show/31...
Not that they're really comparable but this is my favourite vampire movie since Let the Right One In. Using a puppet for a vampire is a genius move. Not alive or dead, and driven by a force over which they have no control.
A still from the horror movie Bring Her Back, showing the character 'Ollie'
What was the last horror movie that made you cry? Mine was Bring Her Back. It was emotional throughout but I wasn't expecting tears until a line right at the end absolutely punched me in the gut. If you've seen it you might be able to guess which one.

It's not on Tubi in Australia if that's a consideration :(
Except you'll really need 300 hours to spare because you'll come away wanting to watch every movie they mention :)
