I thibnk in some cases there was a push to elevate and legitimize the grindhouse as art. Even I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE did it to an extent.

Also, that excellent 70s aesthetic (film stock, lighting, acting, etc.) reminded me a lot of Tarkovsky's MIRROR.

Also, it could have been a stage play which definitely appeals to my sensibilities.

One thing I REALLY liked about LAST STOP is that I'm usually very turned off by movies that are just guns, guns, guns, and it didn't turn me off. As much as there is a RAISING ARIZONA element, it felt real and not just pew pew pew machismo fantasy.

I'm completely able to suspend and believe almost movies are really happening, whether it's GANDHI or EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE or TERRIFIER 3. At least with this one there was only the framing and not the experts cutting in during the movie.

Throughout the film I thought there was something a little strange about Nathan's hands. Then I noticed in those end flashes that the female victim had a huge growth on her hand. No idea what that means or if I was imagining things about Nathan's hands.

I think the framing was unnecessary, but I didn't totally hate it.

The problem for me is that I want to believe the Oralee and Nathan story is real but the framing reminds you it's "just a movie."
