Love this record to death, always surprises me how little-known it is. But then, Iβm a Calvert partisan - Quark Strangeness and Charm may still be my favorite Hawkwind album

If the cost of wages rose alongside the actual price of food instead of the corporations practicing voodoo chicanery to try to hide the increasing lack of value and affordability, none of this would have happened
I went to film school with Mark, where he showed real promise β based on his student work I was always surprised that he didnβt go on to enjoy greater success
Pretty sure it was The Residentsβ HEAVEN? HELL! comps on Ryko, but if not those it was R.E.M.βs MURMUR
It was terrific, and probably 15 people were in the audience for most of it until the dance crowd started filtering in near the end. Ralph put out a cassette of the show, and thereβs also video: youtu.be/VPbfKP5D8rY?...
They gave away βMay the Force be with Youβ buttons (and 16-page full color programs!) at the door, itβs wild to recall there was a time when nobody knew what The Force was. I wish I had video of me trying to explain it to the neighborhood kids and surely sounding like a particularly dim hippie
I donβt recall your name either but Iβd bet we were at some of the same shows. The one where I first met Aadam was at Ralph Recordsβ Rhythm & Noise / Eugene Chadbourne / Snakefinger show at the Vic (aka Chubland) in 1986
I was one of the few people who saw Idiocracy in a theater. Zero ad budget, not even a poster, even the theater employees hadnβt heard of it
I saw Star Wars at the first screening on opening day. I was 12 years old my mind was π€―
And I also have one of those ποΈπ₯π
Glad to see Aadam getting some love, weβve been friends since the 80s and damn but he has done the work. Ten thousand tapes β¦ astounding
oh FFS
This kind of buttercream reminds me of the junk mail circulars that show up in the mail every other day. A whole chain of people from designers to printers to postal workers participated in a sequence that ends with me taking the thing out of mailbox and depositing it directly into the trash unread
Nice one, thanks for sharing
β¦and above all, impeccable unpretentious professionalism that locked in 100% the moment it was called for. Love of music and respect for the muse outshone all when nearly everything else was falling away or failing them
π¦π¦π¦ every last one of them
A fine list, wish Iβd thought of most of those before I posted. Seeing Mavis from five feet away as she played to a dozen people on Fitzgeraldβs back porch before her career was revived was a jaw-dropper. I never got to see Waters play but I filmed an interview with her, a wonderful vulnerable soul

I was watching my friend soundcheck at the Viper Room in LA when Roseanne Arquette came up to me. βDo you have a band aid?β she asked. βNot on meβ I replied. βOhβ she said, and walked away
Note to everyone: stop giving this dingleberry grifter the tine of day

Iβm not a lawyer but I donβt see a single ethical barrier to posting a photo of a person who was threatening people in a public place where there is zero expectation of privacy

I would report more but the music got too loud to make out much. Ten minutes later though I heard the name βTyler Durdenβ invoked
The guy at the next table is mansplaining Blade Runner to his date. βI didnβt say youβd like it, I said it was a foundational text.β Heβs getting worked up but she sounds unimpressed. Oh god now heβs on to Fight Club
