I'm developing a theory that the increasing clamor for "more content"...not just in video games but in tabletop games, animation, you name it and people will go "where's the new stuff?"...is in part attributable to people being increasingly desperate to anesthetize themselves from The Horrors
I actually agree with you, I love *all* of these segments (Even , and maybe especially, On A Rail). But there are a number of common complaints I see levied at them that I find interesting, plus I just want to discuss how cool a design pattern they actually are!
I was considering that too, I have *way too many* thoughts on this topic haha.

look i have a lot to say about HL's On A Rail, HL2's Water Hazard, Highway 17, and Episode 2 and how good I think elements of their attempts at the core concept are.

I just drafted a like 30 part thread about Half Life 1 & 2, how Valve spent four games attempting to perfect their vision for a vehicle section, why they succeeded and failed, and why I want to make an entire fucking game that is just On A Rail But Good.
