In a small town in County Cork, Ireland, a monument stands in appreciation to the American Choctaw Indian Tribe.
Although impoverished, shortly after being forced to walk the Trail of Tears, the tribe somehow gathered $170 to send to Ireland for famine relief in 1847 [Historic Vids]

This supernova, designated SN 2025rbs, was recently discovered in the spiral galaxy NGC 7331, also known as Caldwell 30. The supernova was first detected on July 14, 2025, and is located approximately 40 million light-years away from Earth in the constellation Pegasus. It's very bright even if it can't be separated by the Dwarf 3 smart scope from the light of the neighbouring stars in the galaxy. Due to overnight clear skies in the south east, I was able to get nearly four hours of 30 second exposures. Given local light pollution, this is a pleasantly good result.
Supernova! SN2025rbs recently discovered in the galaxy NGC 7331, also known as Caldwell 30. Located in the constellation Pegasus, its light reached Earth & my tiny Dwarf3 scope approx 40 million years after its occurrence. Thanks @cpl43uk.bsky.social for the alert! #astronomy #astrophotography
Soil is home to nearly 60% of all species and stores vast amounts of carbon.
Yet, it’s being lost faster than ever.
Why and what can be done?

I spent months shooting a specific part of the Milky Way to reveal all the hidden nebulae. I call it “Above the Rift”, a 337 megapixel, 140 hour exposure. My deepest look at the Milky Way yet.
Available in print until tomorrow night at the link in my bio.

A starry night sky in blue and black tones, with the silhouettes of two pine trees in the foreground at lower left. The luminous band of the Milky Way stretches diagonally across the image. Some faint light trails from meteors or satellites can also be seen.

LOL, which one? For this, I’ll say #astrophotography. I’m not great at it, don’t have the best gear, and can’t get to dark skies very often. But I’m always looking forward to the next time, and to improving.
