Loved this! Likely one of my favorite Post-Punk records Iβve heard. Great lyricism, great recordings and production, and pretty great flow from track to track. Highly recommend :)

Found these at Unwind Records & Comics in Asbury Park, NJ. Great store, really small but amazing selection for my taste. Def will be going back :)
Iβm beginning to love Converge. This album is honestly damn near on par with Jane Doe for me. Twisted, fiery guitar tones, great and energetic vocal variety, and thrilling progressions and grooves. Amazing record.
Gonna try When Forever Comes Crashing next! :)
Itβs insane how Death Grips released this not even 6 full months after The Money Store and yet it sounds both completely different and nearly as mind-bending. Wild album and yet another extremely solid release in their very diverse discography for me :)
The one thing that bugs me about this album is that itβs mastered weirdly inconsistently. Some tracks feel oddly quiet and it can quickly jump back up to being normal volume on others.
Outside of that I think itβs really good, more of a Disintegration fan but still great :)
Kicks off just alright but it gets much better very quickly. Incredible voice on Jill Scott and the albumβs got plenty of moments that are smooth and punchy. Very impressed overall, definitely shaping up to be one of my favorites this year :)
Another addition to my growing post-rock collection and a very solid one at that. Very similar to Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven but shorter and less noisy overall. Not the most innovative thing ever but just really pretty and quite cathartic progressions :)
Loved this one! Blu & Exile have been pretty consistent for me so far and I just love how talented these two are in both Bluβs lyrical chops and Exileβs jazzy boom-bap production style. Such a warm feeling hip-hop album, itβs wonderful :)
songwriting. Overall it doesnβt blow my mind or anything and Iβm not sure if itβs gonna be a release that I come back to all that much but itβs very solid and very well worth a spin if youβre a pop fan [2/2]
Pretty good. My only real issue with it is that there are points where the vocals can sound a bit ear piercing when she hits her higher register, which I think is either because of the compression or some other vocal effect she uses, but otherwise great production and [1/2]
really bland and underwritten, and even the best of its grooves (like on βRepeater IIβ) donβt even come close to the insane quality on The Shape of Punk to Come. Interesting genre fusions between jazz, metal, and punk in concept but ultimately not very well executed imo :( [2/2]
Found out about this recently and heard it featured contributions from members of Refused, which had me pretty excited to check it out.
Unfortunately, really did not vibe with most of itβ¦
Progressions did next to nothing for me, when there are lyrics they just feel [1/2]
VERY impressed with this. Real grimey but super catchy punk record. Huge fan of how commanding Joe Talbotβs vocals are as well, very similar to Michael Giraβs more intense work with Swans. I wish a very small few tracks didnβt repeat verses but otherwise, fuckin amazing album!
Topster of my First Listens and Revisits for February!!!
Took some time to re-listen to My Ghosts Go Ghost by By Storm and Blue by Joni Mitchell, and ended up loving them so much more now. Great month overall :)
Bottom 3 were the most underwhelming for me personally.
Great way to close out the month, another fantastic album from Armand Hammer. Pretty gloomy and eerie production on nearly every track. Not as boundary pushing as We Buy Diabetic Test Strips but all around a super solid album that any underground hip-hop fan should hear :)
I think Iβm a bit more of a Jane Doe fan overall, mostly because the post-hardcore elements that album had are largely absent here and itβs a more straightforward Metalcore album, but DAMN itβs a good ass Metalcore album. Amazing recording and production too, drums sound CRAZY!
Relistened to this on my walk today because itβs been nearly 2 years since my FL and it didnβt hit me as hard as Iβd hoped.
Completely shifted for me, one of the most gorgeous folk and singer-songwriter records Iβve heard in a while. Deservedly a Classic :)
How are they this consistent it just doesnβt make sense. Yet ANOTHER great album in the Stereolab discography!
Absolutely loved this! The thematic focus being the acceptance of death is something that really hits home for me, and I just love the way this album was recorded. Beautiful arrangements like on βInoculate the Innocuousβ especially. One of my favorite FLs this month for sure!! :)
level. Actually diving into his music and the revolutionary message he tried to get across makes it feel more powerful than ever, especially when paired with a fantastic set of musicians. An incredible album even if I was already familiar with about half of it :) [2/2]
Iβd grown up listening to a bunch of Bob Marley thanks to my mother, and to this day I still really enjoy his music. I wish I fully understood the context of it when I was younger though, as for the longest time my idea of him was naΓ―vely apolitical and extremely surface [1/2]
Pretty good, some of the most interesting vocal recording Iβve heard in a punk record, kinda sounds like Iβm listening to it in a basement. Cool fusion of hardcore punk and sludge metal too.
Forgot to follow up on this here
Just as good, if not even better, than the first volume. Sheβs just too damn good idk what else to sayβ¦
His songwriting chops are definitely there and despite the fact that normally Iβd find this particular blend of genres a tad boring with this level of production, he manages to make it work with plenty of interesting sonic details and great energy. Solid album :) [2/2]
First time getting into a Genesis Owusu album and I was pretty impressed. Very clean and pretty expensive sounding production, which can sometimes be a turn off for me, but it works nicely here. Iβd love to hear him experiment with a more raw production style going forward. [1/2]
My only problem with this is that I wish the vocals made the lyrics a bit more clear, as even while reading I couldnβt really tell where we were or what Bannon is saying at a lot of points.
That small issue aside, fucking fantastic Metalcore and Post-Hardcore album. Loved it.
I swear itβs like everything Natalia Lafourcade does is just the most beautiful fucking thing ever. Loved the hell out of this, so much in fact that imma get right to Volume 2 in just a little bit.
God damn this was so good. Some of the best production Iβve heard in any Pop or R&B album, nicely executed concept, and tons of variety. Easy to see why itβs such a classic record, canβt believe itβs taken me this long to get to it. Loved it :)
Really good! Itβs cool how you can hear them begin to implement a lot of the musical ideas that would make their next 4 albums so groundbreaking and fascinating. Some moments where itβs a smidge too repetitive but otherwise great!
Stereolab section at Siren Records was completely stocked and got these 2 incredible albums :)
