Searching for things related to lip sync, I came across Pronunciation Coach 3D, a paid software (6 days trial) by Rose Medical Solutions, which provides a way to visualize tongue, jaw, and lips movements during speech. Their website also has some free resources.

A free dataset of various captured motions is provided by Carnegie Mellon University. Files in #c3d format can be analyzed in software like Mokka. Files in #bvh format are made available by the efforts of Bruce Hahn, as stated on the CMU website. I am using Blender to view them.

While searching for motion capture files to analyze human walks, I found Open Motion Project by ACCAD/The Ohio State University. You can download and view bvh files (using Blender for example) containing different male and female actions.

When studying human movement for animation, a helpful free tool might be OpenSim. You can open a model, load a motion, analyze how values for different joints change over time. The setup, and working with data are not straightforward, but there are some tutorials.
